Description of 1959 Austin Healey 3000 BT7 |
1959 Austin Healey 3000 (VIN # HBT7L4423) that is a very worthy candidate for restoration. The car lived in Tucson and Southern AZ most of its life, nd has very little rust compared to others that I've seen, he frame is solid, he body is straight, oors and trunk line up well and shut nicely, ven the chrome is in great shape. I'm not an expert on these cars by any means, picked the car up for my uncle in KY (who made me drop everything and get it for him when he saw it) and he neglected to tell my aunt about his new "plans" until I already had the car. Let's just say she's not ok with another "project" after his recent heart surgery and the fact that he has several already. I am an RV dealer (mostly Airstream) and in real estate, 've owned several American classics and muscle cars over the years, ut never an Austin Healey, o please bear with me if I don't have all of the info or answers that you're looking for- I'll do my best. I also have a LOT of pictures, can only include 24 in this ad, o if you'd like something specific please email me and I'll send it to you. The car is NOT running, t has been sitting for about 7 years according to the previous owner. It belonged to a prominent attorney in Tucson since at least the early 70's (maybe all of its life, ut I only have receipts dating back into the 70's) and in the late 70's he had the small block Chevy engine installed, nd a 4 speed tranny (I know, know- DON'T yell at me- I didn't do it!!), barrel Carb, SD ignition, ual point distributor, tc,and it appears to have been done very well- money wasn't an issue for him. I'm told by his family that he had 2 Healey's, nd the other one he put Ford running gear in, guess he was pretty well known back in the 80's for speeding around Tucson in his red and blue Austin Healey's (he passed away in 2013). The man that I got the car from, ought it in 1983 from the attorney, e drove it for several years on and off, nd at some point he took the gas tank out of it to have it cleaned out, nd he "lost interest" in the carat some point after that, o he justset the tank back in the trunk and never connected it- and probably never cleaned it either. So, ereshe is today- in need of a new home where she'll be appreciated, estored, and put back on the road. For several years, he car sat outside under a car port, ith a cloth car cover and a tarp over it- not exactly ideal, nd for a few years it was actually just sitting outside in the sun (and rain) so the paint and interior suffered; unfortunately, o did the front floor pans, nd there is some rust-through around the doors (see pics) but the majority of the car, runk, ear deck, rame, rame-rails etc is very solid- again, have plenty of pictures and close-ups of the goodAND the bad (I'll get some of the floor pans with carpet pulled back) that I can email because I can't fit them all here. The top bows are in good shape, nd there is a top and a boot, he top is TOAST, ut will make a good pattern- the boot looks like it may clean up ok, ut would never be good enough for anything except keeping dust out of the car I think. There are miscellaneous spare parts, ot sure what everything is, ot a picture of the books and some of the larger parts, indows (they're plastic, ot glass- not sureif that'snormal??)etc. The engine is free, nd theold owner claims that it has very little mileage on it (odometer reads 13,937 andAZ title states 0015000/Box C, either one of which is accurate I'm sure), f it matters to you, t probably wouldn't take too much to get it going, justdidn't think about it because I assume (if you're anything like my uncle) thatthe buyer would pull thatrunning gear out anyhow... unless you actually want to drive the car in the end and prefer the reliability of a Chevy small block ; ) Either way, think this car is an excellent candidate for a restoration. It rolls nicely, ires are dated 1989 but seem to hold air and the trans goes into gears and neutral, rake pedal just goes to the floor, o no brakes. Shipping is the buyer's responsibility, ut I'll help in any way that I can. I also have an open-deck car hauler with a winch and may be willing to deliver to Southern CA for a fee, have family there, nd deliver Airstreams to the ports often, sually for around $550 depending on where. Please take alook at all of the pictures, hey describe it better than I can ***You have to "Click" on the smaller picture in the upper left-hand corner in order to bringup the pictures in the Full-Size window***EBay's newer feature, nd some folks are still not familiar with it.** Please feel free to contact me any time if you need any additional info, ould like to come and see the car, r just have questions:520-404-1975cell. (Heather Anderson).I am located in Southern AZ near Fort Huachuca (about an hour SE of Tucson), ight on highway 90, asy to find- and the weather's GREAT this time of year. I am a licensed/bonded AZ auto dealer... NOT by choice, ut because here in the great state of AZ if you buy/sell more than 3 vehicles (of any kind) in any 12 month period, ou have to get a license. I am a classic car and Airstream nut, also have a ranch/wedding venue, orses, railers, tc... let's just say I bought and sold a few too many for the state's liking, nd due to the fact that they need revenue desperately- they decided to fine me when I sold a few more that what I'm "allowed", ong story short- I jumped through all of their hoops and got my license. Full payment is due within 7 days of the auction's end, nd thecar must be picked up within 15 days of payment (unless other arrangements have been made). Certified funds, ash in person or bank wire-transfer only. Payments MUST clear before thecar/title leaves my sight. There are no "title fees" or "doc fees" like the typical dealers have because as far as I can tell, hat's just a way to get an extra couple hundred dollars from someone. Please check my feedback, ou'll see that I don't sell very many vehicles- but I do have 100% positive feedback on what I have sold over the years. I do NOT go to auctions and buy cars to sell, nything that I have sold or will sell either belonged to me or someone that I know or is a "consignment" type of sale. I have never liked most car dealers and am not all that thrilled to be "one of them". ***This is a USEDVEHICLE (56 years old to be exact) and is being sold as-is/where-is with no warranty expressed or implied. This is a PROJECT carand needs complete RESTORATION. Again, lease call me with any questions or to come see it:520-404-1975. I would welcome and recommend that you come see it or have a 3rd party inspection. I will make it available throughout the auction for any and all inspections, ust call and we'll set up a time. Please understand that the description is only my opinion, ours may be different, have done my best to take many pictures and describe thecar to the best of my ability.Just remember, e all tend to look better in pictures than in person- that's just the way it is.
