Up for auction is my friends rare 1959Austin Healey "Bugeye" Sprite. 1959 was the 2nd year for the "Bugeye" and is veryrare and highly sought after. Thisisa numbers matching car with its original 948 cc enginewith smooth case transmission which makes her that more rare and sought after. She is a project car but with her heritage and rarity she is well worth the time and effort. The car is selling this week to the highest bidder and is priced way, way, waybelow current market value. If you know vintage British cars you know how rare this car is and you know she is priced to sell. Heritage:I've done my research and all indications are that she is a true numbers matching car. If you know your British cars then you will be able to verify my research using the information below. If not familiar with getting a Heritage Certificate from England I can assist you at no cost. You canorderaBritish Heritage Certificate from England or I can do it for you (Thttps://www.britishmotormuseum.co.uk/archive/heritage-certificateshe ). The cars commission number isAN5L / 14611and the engine number is 90-U-H-14587. Mechanically:The car was running fineup until time that the restoration was begun but now the radiator and gas tank have been removed so she is not running. Engine does spin freely and with everything put back in place I believe she should start with not much work. Yes the hydraulics will need to be gone through as will the brakes. Straightforward stuff. Yes the original radiator, gas tankand exhaust do come with the car. Exterior: The car is remarkably straight but does need restoration. The front hood as you can see is in near perfect condition with no visible signs of repairs, rust or rust repairs. Note: The doors are not bolted on at this time and are only set in place for the photos ( hence the poor fit seen in the photos). As seen the auction comes with original front / rear bumpers, original front grill and original sidecurtains / door windows. Note: As seen in the engine bay photos and interior photos the carsoriginalcolor was "Old English White". Interior: Original dash withwith original steering wheel and original "Smith" brand gauges. As seen in the photos the originalseats, seat pans and rails come with the auction. Underbody: I really can't get under the car but from what I see she looks pretty darn good for anearly 60year old car in my opinion. Yes the floors have some rust startingbut someofthe work has been started as seen in the photos. As you can seen in the photos she sits perfectly on the ground with no leaning or sagging issues. Soft Top:Car comes with an original soft top which is in pretty good condition but does need the plastic windows replaced. Hard Top: Yes as seen in the photos the car comes with a hard top.Thehard top is of the Smooth Line make and is very rare. Title: The car was purchased as a project but due to other interest she is being sold on to the next person. Car was purchase here in North Carolina with a North Carolina title. My fiend wants to make sure there are noissues with transfer of the car over overseas transport so he has applied for a new title in his name here in North Carolina. Title has been applied for and it will take a few weeks to receive it from the NC DMV. So if you win the auction I only expect the deposit and will send you a copyof the NC State issued title and after receiving the copy we can work out payment of the balance due on the car. Overseas Bidders:Yes the auction is open to overseas bidders. The auction is open to overseas bidders and if you need to ship overseas try Schumacher Cargo Logisticsshipping for fast free quotes ( http://www.schumachercargo.com/ ). I don't claim to be an expert and my opinion ofthe car may vary from yours so please look at the photos closely and if you need more information or extra photoslet me knowprior to bidding. I know how hard it is to purchase a car online so please ask any and all questions you have prior to bidding or if you can come see and drive the car for yourself ( I really encourage you to do so ) as I want the winning bidder to be satisfied with the car when it arrives. No warranties / guarantees are expressed/ implied and is a project car. Due to the cars age she is being sold as mileage exempt and "as is".
