Description of 1963 Austin Healey Sprite SPRITE MK2. 4-SPEED. WIRE WHEELS. HOT 1275cc ENGINE. |
Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this incredibly nice Austin-Healey Sprite. This Sprite is by far the best one we have seen to date. It was carefully restored on the East Coast by it's very detailed-oriented owner over a period of 6 years. The body tub on this car was completely stripped down to bare metal and professionally painted with exceptionally results, both on the final smooth finish of the paintwork and panel gapping. All chrome was either restored/replated or purchased new and installed with a new rubber kit. The Lucas PL headlights are a nice touch, along with the quick- release cast aluminum gas cap.The car's interior trim was completely renewed including seats, the interesting Donald Healey Motor company optional baby seat, panel kit, Wilton wool carpets, Robbins gray top and tonneau cover with sidecurtain set, restored gauges and switches, new cloth braided wiring harness, and a beautiful NOS Les Leston period competition steering wheel. The 1275cc engine was professionally rebuilt, lightened, balanced, and reassembled with all new internals. A new period-correct cast aluminum valve cover was fitted along with a set of new SU HS2 carburetor set. It's fitted with a Jet Hot coated header set and a new stainless steel exhaust system. The gearbox was purchased as a fully rebuilt unit from a specialist supplier. the car's suspension and brakes were completely rebuilt, along with new springs and shock absorbers. The car drives incredibly well with excellent handling on grippy tires, a hard-revving 1275cc engine, and crisp steering and gearbox. The car includes it's original lifting jack, spare tire and hold-down, top frame stowage bag, and receipts from the restoration.Overall, this gem of a motorcar is an exquisite and rare find with it's competition built engine and performance to match it's good looks. It's interesting period Coral color suits the car's character and would be a good draw at the next car show. Please look at all pictures and call or email with any questions.
