Description of 1962 Austin Healey Sprite MK2 |
This is a 1961. 5 Austin Healey Sprite Mk2. came off the line in April of 61. It is register as a 1962. In 1999 I spent the next 5 years rebuilding this car. and I didn't cut corners. I have pictures of the whole build out and all receipts. The body was sandblasted. seal coated. and painted with Ducati red. For the undercarriage I had aluminum panels made and sandwiched them around the floor panels then popped riveted them together and undercoated the underneath and cab side. Making a great sound seal. No road noise at all. Every part on this car has been replaced with brand new parts. I mean everything. The front end is all new. the rear end has been rebuilt with the original 422 rear end. The engine was built in Tennessee by a grandfather and grandson team. A 1275cc board out to a 1311cc. with balanced crank. 275 duration cam. lighten flywheel. aluminum head with 1. 5 roller rockers. Headers with a straight pipe and a super trap tunable muffler. electric fan. duel 1 1/4" SUV's. 5-speed Datsun transmission. re-cored radiator. gas tank re-coated. Polished all of the aluminum trim. Built the new dash with Koa wood from Hawaii. However never finished some of the upholstery. Alpine Cd. Mini mags and Yokahama tires. this car is tight. but needs someone to take care of it and give it a good home. The front end has been modified and lifts up like a Jaguar. I take this car to meets. I'll park it next to Ferrari's and everyone comes running. This is the coolest car on the block hands down. This Car is sold AS IS with no warranties and shipping cost is to be paid by the buyer. |
