Description of 1949 Bentley Other

Bentley Mark VI, 949. Finished in two-tone Black over Grey with a Beige leather interior, eige carpeting and picnic tables. Both leather and woodwork inside are in a nice condition. The paintwork and chrome on the outside are in nice condition as well. The Bentley Mark VI marked a radical change for the factory. It was the first car to be offered by the company with factory built coachwork. The Standard Steel Saloon body was produced at Pressed Steels factory. Only 4000 examples of this four and a quarter litre Mark VI were produced. A lovely motor to see and to drive.

Additional items for your consideration:

This isan all original 1949 Bentley Mark VI. Aluminum body by H.J. Mulliner. Six cylinder 4.3 liter engine with 4 speed manual transmission. Mechanically sound everyday driver. New paint.Bright work in good condition.Interior woodwork needs refinishing.New leather on front seats, riginal leather in back.
These very expensive cars were a genuine success but, ong-term, heir weakness lay in the inferior steels forced on Bentley by government's post-war controls. However, n traditional Rolls-Royce/Bentley fashion, oach options were available from outside manufacturers. Twenty per cent of Mark VI coaches were built by outside manufacturers. This coach was built of no rust aluminum by H.J. Mulliner at their works in Chiswick west London. Thus the market value of this aluminum coach is higher than the market value of factory built steel coaches.
