Description of 1979 BMW 5-Series 528I |
No Reserve Up for sale is a barn find survivor which I bought and made road worthy 3 months ago as I find a certain charm about the first generation BMW 5 series and they are becoming very hard t find in this condition as a 99% rust free California car. The vehicle sat for 6 years after the original owner passed away and his nephew bought it to keep it in family in his memory, however he never registered it since it needed a muffler in order to pass California emissions test ( smog check ) I currently have clear California title, have it registered and passed California smog check in June after replacing the entire muffler and exhaust system. It looks to have been repainted in original color at some point and it perhaps needs a paint job if one wants to make it perfect. It seems to be very clean and I believe the mileage to be original as the carpet and overall condition of the car and it's interior supports that. The interior got damaged as it sat under California sun in the previous owner's driveway for the past few years waiting to become road worthy prior to my purchase. The odometer and speedometer both work properly. All windows, sunroof, A/C fan, heater blower motor, interior lights, cluster lights, dome lights, headlights, fog lights, tail lights and gauges work properly. The air condition seems to be low on R-12 freon all though it does not leak, the compressor is good as I tested it and it kicked on without any noise. It either needs to be converted to R-134 or recharged with R-12 freon in order for it to work. I replaced the following: -New OEM Muffler and exhaust-New Alternator-Driveshaft center carrier bearing-All 6 Spark pugs-Distributor cap and rotor-Air filter-Fuel filter-In tank fuel pump-Sending unit for gas gauge-Secondary fuel pump under the car-New tires-Synthetic oil and filter change with 15W-40-Flushed coolant-Thermostat-Main relay/ fuel pump relay combination-serviced the front break calipers as they were stock-Pioneer BT-5000 Bluetooth and CD player with Bluetooth audio, spotify, pandora and Aux jack capability-Pioneer speakers in rear-BMW E90 328i sedan front speakers and tweeters I used it as my commuter for the past 2 months to make sure it was reliable. I bought it with 126K miles and driven it at least 2K miles without any issues. The shocks are good but old and soft which I did not mind as I liked the way it rides. The suspension is nice and tight. Call me with your questions or to set up a time to see it in person. Good luck, Koorosh (323)422-4956 |
