Description of 1987 BMW 3-Series convertible |
1987 bmw 325i convertible personal inspections preferred BEFORE bidding - local pickup ONLY This is a factory MANUAL transmission. 5 speed. Solid car. 203k miles. The car starts fast, runs great, shifts and clutch all work as they should. CRACK FREE dash, limited slip differential, 2.5 liter strait six m20 motor Factory radio, seats all work and they are the correct convertible seats. (Lots of times people put coupe seats in the verts but the handles are too long and it cuts up the rear interior panels) clean title IN MY NAME, no games here. register classic with qq plates, since it's older than 94, it's exempt from inspection (if you decide to register regularly), depending on how you intend to keep/drive it, you might quality for classic insurance also, like Haggerty - which is very cheap. i do not hesitate to drive this car 100 miles at a time. from time to time, i bring it to work at 100 miles round trip. great for summer/winter/fall driving with the top down. VERY ENJOYABLE! Recent maintenance: New bosch starter New battery New positive terminal New bosch spark plugs, gapped and valves adjusted at the same time New oem pads and rotors + e brake shoes were installed a year ago (2k miles ago) New OEM intake boot New tonneau cover handle - for opening the convertible top. New odometer gears - I noticed it was under clocking mileage since it said I was only getting 150 miles to a tank of gas. So I replaced the gears with odometergears and everything works perfectly now. New vent fan resistor - all 4 speeds work perfectly Observationsfactory radio still in-tact WITH CODE It appears as if the head was replaced recently. Noticed that the head is incredibly clean inside (while doing valve adjustment). Has all oem markings stamped on each rocker.. it appears to have been replaced with a genuine bmw head in recent years - not a cheap rebuild. runs great. valves all adjusted perfectly. no cosmoline in the head, surprisingly clean. Some cold starts have a little bit of idle hunting when it's humid out (rpm bounces 2-3 times from 500-900 then settles at 700). Other times it goes right to solid idle at 700 rpm. At some point this car was in an accident. Pass. Rear quarter was replaced with a genuine bmw replacement panel. This was done very well. I only noticed because of the sticker on the panel inside the trunk. Spare tire well has some rust - only rust really on the entire car. The plug areas in the rear footwells are in good shape (common rust areas on the verts, but these look good!) At 40 mph in 3rd gear, there is a vibration/humming. I believe this to be the driveshaft center bearing. I include a new one with the sale of the car. If you go quickly through this speed range, you don't feel it.. it's only around town that I can feel it. it could use shocks - ready for the next owner to either refresh or lower, etc. etc.. I like h&r lowering springs with e90 front spring hats and either kyb or bilstein shocks depending on the budget - also the 95 e36m3 control arm bushings (centered) Tires have a lot of tread, but look older If the ad is still up, i still have the car - no, i do not need help selling it. please do not ask. no trades, strait sale. cash talks. |
