Description of 1940 Buick Special Coupe

1940 Buick Special 46C Convertible Coupe

A one repaint original! Many options and superb mechanicals! Original sales contract from Kings County Buick in November of 1939! A fantastic and investment-grade Buick!

Buick introduced its 1940 model range on September 22, 939. New features included mandatory (although minor) styling updates, ngine oil filters, ealed beam headlights and Fore-N-Aft Flash-Way directional signals. Buick’s total calendar year production soared to 310,995, heir best sales year ever and one that still has not been surpassed. Among the sportiest 1940 models was the Special 46C Convertible Coupe. With a one inch longer wheelbase, his 121” chassis mated to a 107 horsepower Dynaflash Inline 8 moved a sleek and powerful 3,665 pound convertible down the road just fine! The car had a $1,077 base price and found 3,664 domestic homes and 99 in other countries with final production totaling 3,763. Today, heir classic lines have endured and they remain very collectible!

We are very excited to offer this 1940 Buick Special 46C Convertible Coupe! The car is fitted with its original sequence-correct drivetrain, ncluding 248ci Dynaflash Inline 8 with Stromberg carburetion producing 107 horsepower and 126 lb.-ft. of torque mated to a three-speed column-mount manual transmission and standard 3.9:1 rear end. Finished in its original color scheme of Black over Red Leather interior and tan convertible top, his 46C was one of the most sporting pre-war Buicks produced! Features and options on this particular car include fender skirts, ual side-view mirrors, uick fog lights, ront and rear bumperettes, eat/defrost, xhaust turndown, onomatic AM radio with center dash speaker, lectric glovebox clock, as cap lock, plit windshield with wipers and more! The car rides on 16” Buick steel wheels with “Buick” hubcaps with trim rings and wrapped in Lester 6.50-16 4-ply wide whitewall tires!

History on this car dates back to New Jersey, here it was discovered as an incredibly well preserved 58,000 mile car. It was decided that since several spots on the body had been polished down to the primer that the car get a full repaint in the original black color. The interior was left alone and complemented with a new tan cloth top and boot cover with red piping. In addition to minor recent mechanical once-throughs and new exhaust, his Buick fires right up and continues to start, un and drive with gusto! Included with this largely original car are the original sales contract from Kings County Buick of Brooklyn, ew York dated November 14th, 939. Also included is a photo album of the car in New Jersey before it was cosmetically restored. The car will come with a spare in the trunk and a tool set including two jacks, tool and a wrench. The car will show virtually no wear in its fresh black paint and only a tiny one inch tear in the original back seat. The top folds neatly and the custom sewn boot cover fits great. We would invite any interested parties to call with additional questions or to come and see for yourself what a magnificently sorted automobile this is. Thanks for looking!
