1931 Buick Model 57 4 Door Sedan Survivor...Six Wheeler...Steamer Trunk...Bathrobe Bars...Very Special Build. Okay, first of all...I'm not new to survivor or preservation class. I have competed in the survivor class and won three chairman's awards in the last twenty years. Additionally, I have even judged the Survivor Class at Bloomington...a national venue that is now open to all makes and models on their Sunday judging. Because of these experiences, I recognized this local car during special events locally. When the owner passed, I was contacted to "simplify" the life of his widow. And that is how I come to you today. Will all that said...this is an original paint car. That is extremely rare for a car that is 85 years old. The paint scheme is pretty traditional from the Buick factory. Black from the top to the coach contour.....midnight blue from the coach contour to the bottom of the coach and the bonnett....and black fenders. The interior is all complete and all original...all the way to the original curtains. The drivetrain is all original and never been out of the car. The further I got into this car, the more I realized how historically important the condition was. For that reason, I have left the majority of the final sorting to someone that has more experience with 85 year old paint and Pre-War Buicks. I knew you would ask questions, so I nitpicked this thing to death and here is all I found. The car is 100% complete except for the two spare tires on Kelsey Hays Wires, the 18" Buick emblem bar between the original TiltRay Headlamps, and four center caps. Everything else is there and original. The original Flying Eight radiator cap is in the steamer trunk with the original jack. Service parts that were installed over the years are to be expected and all match correct look with the exception of a recent Midas muffler on original exhaust and the replacement of the running board wood ONLY. This is only visible from underneath the car and it shows as well as any 50 year old car that I have ever won all the marbles with. The underneath wood is ALL Original and is museum quality. ALL original finishes are still intact and absolutely wonderful. It is an incredible Rust-Free example that has spent every single night of its life indoors. The milage of 58,000 is original...I'm convinced of that. Finishes and originality like this don't exist on a car that has stories. This one is legit and deserves to compete in a Preservation Class. Four of us spent five hours hand rubbing the paint and it can be saved. There is a spot on the right rear about the size of a basketball that was resprayed and blended, but I cant find any signs of body work. Obviously, the fenders and the bonnet will have to be professionally touched up, but 75% of the car will remain original paint. Its the real deal guys. I saw the car run two years ago and it is being sold with good drive-train that doesn't run. He was cleaning the fuel system when he passed, so it wont take much. I have posted all the important numbers that have never been disturbed, so the Buick Club guys can reach out to Dave Corbin in Texas and get all verification. If you have any questions please call Corey 620-382-4302. I work for a living, so calling this number is way better than a steady stream of random emails. If you are interested, please call and come see the car in person. I can help with shipping. With all that being said, please make this painless for me too. I prefer cash or wire transfer from a guy that I meet in person. Thanks for looking and have a great day!
