Description of 1965 Buick Riviera

Possibly the most beautiful of all Bill Mitchell designed GM cars. The iconic 65 Riviera is the last year of this body style and the only year of the shark grill and clamshell headlights. This car is a South Texas car bought in San Antonio with the custom build plate still in car (see pic). According to VIN it was originally a silver car and though the odometer states 25,574 I'm under the impression it has turned over. The 401 big block "nailhead" has the rare and highly sought after factory aluminum valve covers as well as custom Sanderson headers giving it an unmistakable big block growl. My intention was to do a nut and bolt restore but time has slipped by and ready to pass on to next "car" person. The range on a restored 65 is 25k-80k. If you have ever driven one of these you will know how they respond and the torque of the nailhead gives it seat of the pants "pure sixties" acceleration, this car hauls ass. Back in the day as for their marketing it was referred to as "The Gentleman's Hot Rod".Needs bottom rear quarter work on both sides and front passenger floor pan as well as the common rear back window spots filled (see pics). I've put in a brand new carburetor kit and have left everything else alone. The A/C is there but not charged, radio not working, lights need new vacuum hoses etc. but all in all the car is drivable @ 75 mph and stops.I am out of state til the 26th the day the auction ends and will be there all week leaving on Dec. 3rd for the holidays so any pickup or shipping will need to be done during that time or wait til the holidays are over. It's fine sitting where it is.Happy bidding, she's a peach.
