Description of 1965 Buick Riviera

1965 Buick Riviera (AKA: “The Gentleman’s Hotrod”) I have owned this car for 15 years and am the third owner. Garaged all its life this rust-free Riviera runs and drives excellent and is in extremely solid condition. VIN# 494475H932838 Engine & Transmission: 401 Wildcat 445 w/ smooth shifting AT. The motor sounds exceptionally nice and delivers plenty of hair-raising power whenever you want it with a ride that’s just as smooth at 75 MPH as it is at 35 MPH. The car has new exhaust. and was professionally lowered (so as to retain the original smooth ride). There are records for service done over the years including some by the car’s original owner. The car has had regular attention and has been meticulously maintained. Body: The body panels are all straight with a professional refresh of the original Flame Red paint prior to my purchase in 2000. The tires are all fairly new and have plenty of miles left on them. The car still has the original spare. I am particular about paint and would grade this paint job (8. 5 out of 10) as there is one small chip on the passenger side rear quarter panel and two small. thin scratches on the driver side rear quarter panel. A 10 is what wins Pebble Beach this paint job will not disappoint. All the glass and chrome are in great shape. Working clamshell-style hidden headlights that famously identify it as a 1965 model Riviera. This car presents very well and in the correct Flame Red color not typically seen on ’65 Rivs making this one. with it’s white interior. very unique and extremely eye-catching. Interior: The interior was redone in 2000 and is extremely clean with no tears. stains. or cracks. All the rubber window and trunk trim were replaced. The tilt wheel. power driver’s seat. power antenna. heater. and AM radio (with Radio Reverb option) work as new. All the wood panel inserts were replaced with NOS panels and all of the instrumentation work except the clock (which did work when I purchased the car in 2000). The trunk area is very clean and has new carpet and rubber. The car also features rear defrost. cruise control. split rear seats (a fairly rare feature to this model). The crisp. clean. white interior is a joy to sit in and accentuates the Flame Red exterior nicely. Summary: The 1965 Riviera is the most preferred of the three years bearing the first generation body style (which was the first concept car ever put into production). For me. cars don’t get any sexier than the ’65 Riv and this particular car was used in three feature films and one short film: Kicking Bird. Pray For Hell. Wake Before I Die and Days—a neat car with neat history.
