Description of 1968 Buick Sportwagon |
For sale here is a hard to find, unmolested muscle car era 1968 Buick SportWagon. Its list of options can be confirmed with the original factory window sticker. It Boasts Factory big block 400 WO1 A9 High performance V8 engine w/4brl carb. superturbine 400 Trans & ornametationN40 C6 PowrsteeringJ50 C7 Power brakesU63 D1 Sonomatic radio with manual antennaU80 D6 rear speakerNC7 E3 Califonia resinatorP26 F1 White wall tiresC60 I6 Air ConditioningW14 J3 Custom front, second and third seatbelts and custom front shoulder beltsU15 K3 speed alert (speed minder speedo)A01 soft-ray tinted glassD33 05 Remote control outside rear view mirrorY56 07 Protection group door guards and gas tank filler guardY54 P1 Carpet savers and handy matsA41 Q5 Power seat 4-way tilt adjusterA31 R1 Power windowsN33 S7 Tilt steering wheelW22 U3 Electric clockP05 V2 Chrome plated wheels (14x6 Ralleys with trim rings and center caps) V5 Wood grain appliqueB85 W5 Custom bright exterior mouldings- belt reveal mouldingN31 X4 Ralley steering wheelB39 Y2 Load floor area carpetV55 Y3 Luggage rackV56 Y4 Luggage locker w/lockA33 Z4 Power tailgate window Rare in the first place to have such a high factory optioned car much less a wagon with an original sticker price of $5,292.55 that more than a 70' GSX! In addition to the factory options it is an original California black plate car with the matching U.S. veterans key tag. I put 5 new tires on it less than 200 miles ago as well it has a new battery and brakes all the way around (its stops fantastic and straight with 4 drums, correct finned aluminum fronts and iron finned rears) It starts and drives fantastic although I believe the carb needs gone through as it loads up at idle, I am at 5500 feet elevation and have NOT addressed that issue. It has rust around the roof windows and the passenger front floor boards that is through and will need addressed. It has a dent in the left front fender and the left rear door both are easily repairable, as well I have access to a straight replacement LR door. The protecto plate is in the warranty booklet with all the original stamps from service. All of the original booklets plus alot of original dealership literature are present.Make no mistake the wagon runs and drives very well but IS a complete restoration canidit. The rear window is slow and needs help going all the way up, the blower motor doesn't work from the switch but if powered directly works. The RR window is inop the other three work. I bought a new carpet kit but when I removed the original and saw the rust I would rather be honest than cover it up. I have lots of good spare parts including a great pair of tail lights a very nice chrome side view mirror I also located and purchased 68' GS hood scoop and fender vents those were almost a grand! The bumpers are virtually perfect and the grill is very nice. Spare factory radiator and some other GS emblems. And of course the Grand Daddy question, If its so cool and has so much stuff why are you selling it? The FACT of the matter is this, it is too much project for me right now. This is my 3rd SportWagon I love them and want to keep it but I have a young kid and another project, so like I said it is just too much for me right now. I could keep it and it would sit for years before I get to it!
