Description of 1965 Buick Riviera Gran Sport |
1965 Buick Riviera Gran Sport Coupe showing 109,419 miles offered by Gas Monkey Garage with a Buy It Now or Best Offer! In 1965 the Gran Sport version of the Riviera made its debut, powered by the Super Wildcat 425 CID V8 and outfitted with a more aggressive 3.42 axle ratio and stiffer, heavy-duty suspension. The Super Turbine 400 transmission retained its variable pitch torque converter, but was fitted with a three-speed gear selector. The stock dual exhaust pipes were increased from 2.0 to 2.25 inches and had fewer turns to reduce backpressure. 1965 was the last year for the first generation Riviera and found the headlamps, now vertically arranged, hidden behind clamshell doors in the leading edges of each fender, as seen in the original XP-715 concept design. This excellent example was acquired from a long term collection along with a few other classics as well. Is in good condition having been stored in a climate controlled environment and has been maintained throughout the years along with the other cars in the collection. It starts right up, runs & drives well. Exterior photos show a nice finish that has been resprayed at some point in the past & with quality preparation, it still shows well. All chrome trim & bumpers are in good condition and the car presents well. Interior pics reveal a nicely preserved cabin with all trim components in good condition. The center console and shifter look amazingly good with the real wood trim showing nicely (see all 100+ pics). Under the hood you'll find the well maintained 425 CID Factory V8 that was included with the Gran Sport pkg. It runs well and pulls strongly. Underside photos reveal a clean and solid chassis that is fairly original (again. See all 100+ photos). As nice as this Riviera Gran Sport is, it isn't perfect. The headlamp door actuators have been removed and are now missing and the heater box has been removed for reasons unknown? This would make the addition of a modern A/C unit much easier if you desire. While this 1965 Riviera does run and drive very well, it will need to be completely inspected and serviced before any extended driving to ensure safety and reliability (due to our filming schedule we cannot perform any additional work on this car or build it for you). The winning bidder may have the option of coming to the shop to pick up the Rivi Gran Sport. If you're looking for an amazing 1965 Buick Riviera Gran Sport Coupe you won't find a better example that's priced to sell! This would be perfect for Cruise Night, Advertising and Promotional use or as a kick ass addition to your collection, you decide!
