Description of 1965 Buick Skylark |
1965 BUICK GRAN SPORT CONVERTIBLE...50 years ago this Gran Sport Convertible became ONE of only 1426 EVER PRODUCED that rolled off the Buick assembly Line: Build date is 04C 3rd week in April 1965. This Classic Buick Musclecar was BMDs answer to the 442 GTO and SS. Buick Engineers managed to stuff this little Skylark bod with a WILDCAT 401 325 HP real true 10:25:1 compression ratio a torque monster! The NOM motor in this GS was rebuilt to factory specs in 1982 and parked in a garage in 1986 till I purchased it in 1996. It sports less than 30K miles since the rebuild. Runs and sounds AWESOME!Motor runs great on a Mallory ignition system rebuilt carb temporary fuel cell 50 y/o ORIGINAL fuel tank needs flushing/cleaning. tranny shifts forward/reverse fine tires onoriginal Buick ralley wheelzwill get you by for a short time..This UNUSUALLYLOADED 65 GS Vert sports factory power windows (they all work but need help) power driver bucket seat - works excellent!Factory A/C- this original systemis mostly completehoses compressor evap etc however not working. Factory floor shift auto console with factory tachometer.POSI 3:08 power steering power brakes are inop need a total system rebuild. Suggestradiator replacement. Needs new exhaust system. 50 y/o chrome is all original. BODY: this is definitely a solid car for an unrestored 50 Year old Classic Musclecar. It shows signs of repaint and bodywork over the years...and O'sure it shows some rust here'n there...Passenger compartment floors are EXTREMELY SOLID!! ONE rusthole the size of your thumb under the driver floor other'n that NO RUST under the seats the rear seats the vert top drain areas that are typically rusted out..this area is solid. The trunk pan has 2 areas of rust NOT critical or structurally significant as the trunk body mounts are still solid and intact quite unusual for a 50 year old unrestored mid 60's GM A body. Some rust in original passenger quarter and almost NO rust on driver side quarter solid hood trunk lid small minor rust bottom of doors/fenders as shown.Original LOF windshield is SPOTLESS and factory original A/C equipped tinted windows all around! The fenders core support inner fenders & hood will need to be properly adjusted aligned and tightened....ORIGINAL INTERIOR!! yes ORIGINAL. Its not show. Its NOT perfect. However the door panels front and rear seats and rear panels ARE all original! There is NO convertible top fabric however the top pump mechanix have been rebuilt and work excellent. The top BOOT has shrunk a few sizes and does not fit well anymore...The car will obviously need some tinkering before it can be safely driven however you wont break the bank in doing so.... I'd describe it as WEEKEND TINKERING at its best! This is NOT a 50K Barrett Jackson or Mecum candidate as it sits however IT COULD BE.NOR is it a total rustbucket of a 50 YEAR OLD Gran Sport Musclecar it has a ton of class a unlimited potential!Restore the car OR as the West Coasters are making it ever so popular scuff and clearcoat the paint AS IS and show it off as a PATINA CLASSIC... (google 'Patina Classic Musclecars' to understand)Eitherway you can purchase this 50 YEAR OLD ~1 of 1426 ever produced~ 1965 Buick Gran Sport Convertible reasonably and still have a lot of room for improvements without the greatest fear most of us have that is finding yourself upside down in the investment. My reserve is VERY realistic for a running Mid 60's Musclcar Classic convertible. Bid with confidence that my descriptions are honest and true and feel free to ask questions. When this auction is over NO SECOND CHANCE will be given.DO NOT ASK FOR MY RESERVE. You will not get an answer.I will assist in transport arrangements the best I can...NOTE: even tho this is a running car and I have used EXTREME DUE CAUTION when driving it can be driven up and onto a trailer HOWEVER it has NO BRAKES! Just say'n.Car is in the Tampa Bay area. |
