1933 Cadillac 355C 2/4 Passenger Coupe Listed on behalf of Monte Shelton Motors 1933 was the bleakest year of the Great Depression, ith 25% of Americans out of work. Yet, uring those dark days, ome of the most beautiful automobiles of the Classic Era were being created for the few who had weathered the ravages of the economy. This Cadillac Model 355C Coupe was special ordered by a customer in Canada and shipped from Detroit to the GM factory in Oshwa, ntario for final assembly and finishing on September 6, 933. It was one of just 34 V8 Coupes made that year. While the early history of the car is unknown, n the early 1970's it underwent a 2-1/2 year frame-off restoration to show level. Upon completion, he car was shown and ultimately received an AACA National First Place award in 1978. It was later sold and became part of a private collection in the Pacific Northwest where it remained until recently. The car shows well today. While a seasoned restoration, t has been mantained and presents nicely. The lacquer paint has held well with only minor signs of aging. The chrome is bright and beautiful. The interior was reupholstered in tan wool and is lovely with no rips, ears or blemishes. Rumble seat is upholstered in fabric matching the top. The rear window rolls down for ventilation and conversation between the driver's compartment and passengers in the rumble seat. The real wood trim on the dashboard, oors and window moldings is excellent throughout. The instruments look wonderful and function as they should. The odometer shows just under 1,000 miles which we believe to be the mileage since restoration. This cannot be confirmed at this date, ut all signs of condition of the car seem to verify it. Please see photos and video. Mechanically, his car runs wonderfully. The rebuilt 353 cubic inch V8 engine runs without fault. Smooth and quiet with plenty of power, o smoke or other issues. The transmission shifts smoothly and tightly, nother sign of limited use. Mechanical brakes stop the car well. Tires are older but show well with plenty of tread. Clean undercarriage. I have personally driven this car and it is a pleasure to drive. Runs cool. Nicely optioned with Heron Radiator mascot and rear mounted spare tire. This is 1 of just 4 examples of this model known to exist today. If you are looking for a rare Cadillac for enjoyable touring with the Cadillac-LaSalle Club or Classic Car Club of America, his is a mighty fine one.
