You are looking at a 1929 LaSalle Model 328 Rumble Seat Coupe that was recently pulled out of a 50 year hibernation. I received this car from an estate and was told their father was an old car hobbyist back in the 1960's & 70's. They explained the car was bought as a project to further his Cadillac collection. Obviously he never got around to doing the restoration on the car. This LaSalle Coupe is complete down to it's Rare & Unique Tail Light, 4 wood spoke wheels, rear spare tire, hand crank and crank hole cover. However, 3 of the original screw on hubcaps are missing as is the jack. The car rolls & steers but as you can see, the drivers rear tire a 6.00-6.50 19" is blown out and I am currently looking for a replacement to make the car easier to transport. If I am unsuccessful, you or your transporter need to be prepared to deal with this problem. Both of the doors, hood, rumble seat lid and golf bag door all open, close & latch but unfortunately, I did not receive any keys for the locks. The body itself is rust and damage free as are the front fenders, hood, rumble seat lid and passenger rear fender. The only rust through is at the center of the drivers running board under the rubber mat. The only damage on the car is at the bottom of the drivers rear fender, please see my close up photo of this area. The head lights, parking lights, tail light, radiator shell, bumpers etc. are all original but obviously the chrome plating needs to be restored if you are going to redo the car. After receiving the LaSalle, we removed the seat cushion, interior side panels and floor mat from the rumble seat compartment to show you the condition of the floor pan and woodwork. The car appears to be mostly solid having only one hole in the floor pan under the rumble seat cushion. The woodwork inside the car is all original and in good condition showing only one soft or rotten area where the drivers rear door pillar meets the main sill. There is some give at the bottom of the body when one closes the door. The front floor board is solid and still retains it original rubber floor mat and sill plates. The mohair interior is all original and still presentable. It is not all moth eaten, rodent infested nor does it have any moldy smell. Nothing seems to be missing from the interior as it still has all of its door & window cranks, instrument gauges, steering wheel controls & pull out cigar lighter. All of the clear window glass in the car is uncracked. I was unsuccessful at winding both door windows down as they are very tight and I did not want to damage anything by continuing. The rear window does wind up & down easily so one could talk to the passenger in the rumble seat. The only item that has been changed from original is the canvas top in the center of the roof was professionally covered over in metal a very long time ago. My interior roof photograph clearly shows the wooden roof slats and canvas top material still under the metal replacement. After doing some research, I discovered that the VIN number 421420 that is stamped into the passenger side of the aluminum crankcase matches the number on the firewall tag and also the title. The original numbers matching V-8 engine is complete from air cleaner to oil pan and still spins freely but has not ran in years. The 134" wheelbase chassis is in good solid condition and has no rust or previous damage repairs. Please understand you are bidding to buy, not to be the first one to look. If you need to examine this LaSalle you are more than welcome and I recommend that you do so. I am not interested in any trades. I hope you understand this car will make a great museum display of a "barn find" or it will make a wonderful restoration or resto-mod project or leave it alone as a "one of a kind" Rat Rod. This 29 LaSalle Rumble Seat Coupe comes with a clean clear West Virginia Title that was last dated in 1966. The car has been stored inside a building since then. Lastly but not least is the fact that this low production 87 year-old survivor is recognized as a Full Classic by the Classic Car Club of America. Thank you for spending the time to look and good luck bidding!
