Description of 1939 Cadillac 5027 "opera" coupe |
Up for sale is a 1939 Cadillac LaSalle 2 door business coupe, aka "opera coupe" model 5027. These are rare and hard to come by. This is a very solid, rust free California survivor, and awaiting the next owner's imagination to make a full custom build or keep it in the stock configuration. I was going to chop it and fully customize it (the last 3 pictures as an idea and not included). Too many projects so I've decided to let this one go. I had purchased off the family of an elderly man that passed. I believe he was the second owner but as he had several projects he did not get to it either. He owned it since 1963 and I have a set of brand NEW California black license plates to go with it issued when he became owner. It was stored all those years in his shop. All the parts were in boxes and had to prop up the grilles for the pictures. The car is on non-op so there are no back fees. This is the perfect canvas to start a full build instead of paying up to 14,000 for an old runner that needs to be completely disassembled and start from scratch anyways. The LaSalle is a complete body that rolls on an original chassis and suspension. All the body, hood, rocker panel, and window trim is complete. Both the hood sides and front grilles are there and not broken. The coveted rare center grille has the top emblem in intact. The amazing hood ornament which doubles as a hood latch is complete. Inside you will find all window garnish and gauge cluster complete. There are a few dash knobs missing but can't remember which ones off hand. The floor is in immaculate condition and would be hard pressed to find a 79 year old car floor in that condition. There are no holes or weak spots in it. In the pictures you can see the rare opera seats that fold up for more storage. Front and rear bumpers and brackets are there including the one with the LaSalle script. Both tail light housing and lenses are accounted for. The body itself is VERY straight and free on dents except for driver front fender which is easily fixed by any decent bodyman. There are some boxes of original parts, others items that looked to have been rechromed or polished up. There is no steering, engine or transmission as I was going with a newer front clip, a fuel injected Cadillac motor with overdrive. Bench seat is also gone as I was going to do a custom interior with buckets. Last but not least as I said this is a solid car there is some very light surface rust on some spots where paint is completely faded, a spot on passenger rear quarter front where the fender bolts to body (smaller than your pinky fingernail), a few spots inside the deck lid of trunk (see second to last picture). If you want/need an engine to go with auction I can help find what you are looking for and get it so it is all together upon pickup or delivery. I have described this car as accurate as possible and the best of my ability. Please do not assume anything and ask any and all questions via email, phone, or text. I prefer you see it in person if possible. 3102790465 Alfredo. I have this listed locally and may pull the auction at any time. I can help deliver (for a fee). I can go all over California up to Washington state, about as far east as the Rockies I also have other projects for sale. Inquire if interested and I can get you pics and info and set up an auction for you. Check out my other auctions as I will be listing more over the next few months and as always thanks for looking.. 1951 Chevrolet 5 window 3100 pickup truck 1954 Chevrolet 5 window 3100 pickup truck 1956 Chevrolet 2 door car 1947 International Harvester KB 2 on a 2001 Chevrolet S-10 drivetrain/frame |
