My name is Frank Krause and my 82 year old father has owned this car for nearly 20 years. The car was bought new by a neighbor of mine and had 20. 00 miles on it when my father became the second owner. I am authorized to sell it. have his signed title in hand. know everything there is to know about it. and am happy to facilitate in every possible way. its successful delivery to its third owner. My father is listed personally as owner on the NJ title and the miles stated thereupon are 20. 00 actual miles. those miles that he purchased with. The car now registers 34. 50 miles. It has been garaged all its life and never driven in snow or on salted roads and has therefore never had a spot of rust. It has a clean. two-owner Auto-Check with no accidents reported or otherwise happened. guaranteed. We are GM car collectors and skilled in both preservation and restoration of vehicles. This car is 100% original with the exception of the paint. wheels. and routine service parts. Eighteen years ago. I stripped the original code 69 Briarwood brown paint to the bare metal because it had exhibited "crows-footing" on its horizontal surfaces typical to GM paint of the era and the only proper way to prevent resurfacing of this problem is to strip to bare metal before repainting. All trim was removed and polished. I then had the body refinished professionally in two stage urethane base-coat/clear-coat which was wet-sanded and buffed to a smooth-as-glass finish with better luster and durability than GM ever produced in 1981. Unlike the original finish. this much better quality coating has withstood the test of time. You are looking at 18 year-old paintwork. and today as I take these pictures. it still looks like it was just done. yet you can be sure there will be no surprises. like sand-marks. cracking. crows-feet. crazing. bubbling. etc. because such paint issues have had 18 years to surface and have NOT. There is not one scratch. blemish. or door-ding to be found in the paint and the original chrome and brightwork is brilliant which makes for a flawless exterior. I installed a new set of 1992 Cadillac Brougham wheels since there was no aluminum wheel option for D-body Cadillac until ten years after the car was built. The original wheel covers are in the trunk. Bumper fillers were just replaced with new so they won't be brittle. When the car was refinished. it was treated to an orange and tan painted on accent stripe and the car has a clean. contemporary. and striking look without the optional vinyl landau top that nearly every one of these cars was festooned with in its era. 1981 was a year of both first and lasts for Cadillac. It was the last big-block Cadillac V-8. the 368 cubic inch 6. 0 cast iron unit that was the same block as the 472. 500. and 425 variants. While the L61 carbureated 6. 0 was introduced in 1980. for 1981 it was known as L62 - the first Cadillac-produced engine with standard fuel injection. in this case. TBI. It was also the first mass-produced engine in the world with multi-displacement configuration. the V-864. This was mechanically sound. but was electronically troublesome. and so. like most owners. the original owner of this car had the system bypassed. and for over 25 years now. the engine runs full-time and without any hesitation or other issues whatsoever. on all eight cylinders. The transmission is the bulletproof GM TH400 and axle is 2. 41 geared. This whole powertrain is far superior to the anemic HT4100 aluminum V8 and equally weak TH200R4 trans that was used beginning in 1982 until the last Coupe DeVille in 1984. All service records including those of the original owner are included. Car has the heavy-duty suspension with extra thick rear sway bar and 235/70/15 Michelin X-One tires with like new tread and no dry-rot. The digital climate control heat and A/C works perfectly having just been serviced. including new blower motor and resistor replaced. Power windows. locks. seat. trunk release. and antenna work perfectly as does the original AM/FM stereo. optional tilt/telescopic wheel. rear defogger. and outside roof opera lamps. The original seats. interior paneling. and carpets are flawless. and the headliner was replaced last year because it sagged. The only flaw inside is two cracks in the hard plastic steering wheel at 8-o-clock and 4-o-clock. visible in picture. Exhaust and Delco battery are recent. All smog equipment is intact. Oil and other fluids have just been serviced. there are no leaks or smokes. and I recently drove car at highway speeds for 200 miles and it starts. drives. and handles flawlessly.
