Description of 1949 Chevrolet Other |
UP FOR BID: 1949 Chevy 2 Dr Sedan in the sought after Fleetline body style Body is very straight and solid. No rust out. Amazing condition with only one patch panel in trunk floor in the usual area by spare tire. I had it painted in Satin Black (Dark Gray) Urethane so it can be painted later in any fashion or left as is and driven (my preference). ENGINE: 400ci small block Chevy, ear unknown. MSD distributor and Ignition system. Holley carb sitting atop an Edlebrock aluminum manifold. Fitted with full length tubular headers. According to paperwork I was given it has a Comp Cams 292H-10 grind which was installed along with a springs and lifters in 2006. Unverified but the engine sounds as if it has a nice cam. The engine was allegedly gone through at that time but, gain, don't know. There's no smoke, as decent oil pressure and vacume and Upon removal of the valve covers, ooks really clean inside. Has an intermittent lifter tap coming from one passenger side rear lifter at low rpm but I haven't had the inclination to pull the carb and manifold and put an entire set of lifters in. TRANSMISSION: General Motors TH400 automatic. Fluid looks and smells fine. Gives good firm shifts with no indication of slippage. Has a trans cooler that can be seen in pics. Has a new large custom driveshaft that was built and balanced by Custom Clutch, oint and Hydraulics in Cleveland Ohio. Feels as if it has a high stall converter but not known. Lokar shifter. REAR END: Was told (I'm not a Chevy Guy) it's a third generation Camaro unit (tubes, xles, rums etc) with an open differential. I installed set of springs from the small Blazer to get the ride height right. UPGRADES: Starting at the front, t has Power disc brakes (full size Chevy rotors and calipers) with less that 60 miles on them. New dual master cyl and booster unit. New proportioning valve and new hoses and lines all the way back. New aftermarket wiring harness and fuse panel, verything works. Turn signals installed. At the rear it has a poly fuel cell from Summit just installed with new sending unit with wiring attached. New fuel gauge comes with car, ust needs hooked up and installed. New braided fuel line from pump to fuel cell just installed. Battery relocated to trunk and new cables installed. Two "Briz" aluminum hot rod bumpers, ear installed, ront not yet. Nice black interior (look and feel like leather but not positive) installed front and back. Passenger seat needs front anchors installed (provided with car). CONDITION SPECIFICS: Door panels and rear side panels have been cut (see pic) and await whatever new owner has in mind for them. There is no side glass (available online for 250.00- 300.00 a set) but all window regulators are installed and functional. No interior window cranks or interior door handles but all door latches and mechanisms are installed and functional. No headliner but the top bows are included with the car (very hard to find for this model). No hood latch (included but needs to be installed) No trunk latch but trunk springs hold it shut. The carb has no choke plate and requires some cranking to start if it sits for a long time, ot an issue if started regularly, arms up pretty quickly. Has a manual electric fan and runs at around 190 and idles at around 210. Probably all you can expect from the stock radiator. Both windshields are new as well as the seals. Have interior front and rear windscreen garnish mouldings. Front end was gone over by mechanic at time of disc brake conversion. No issues found and goes down the road fine. Stops fast and straight. The 400 has plenty of torque. I've only put around 60 miles on i, o painter, echanic etc. It's pretty much a blank canvas as far as which direction you want to go with the final configuration (or maybe this will be the final, ho knows). I'm not a Chevy guy but I had to have it when Isaw that super cool body style. Unfortunately health issues have intervened so the car needs to go to a new home. Included will be 1 qt House of Kolors Acryl primer surface high build red oxide, qt HofK Lapis Blue basecoat, qtsHofK Kandy Cobalt blue, gal HofK Orion Silver basecoat, /2gal R311 reducer and 1 qt KU100 catalyst. Anyone who wants to stop and see it in person is welcome to, can be reached at 216-406-7662 with any questions. If the new owner is having the car shipped I can be available to assist the transporter with loading, ame if the new owner brings a car trailer. Reserve is low so I'm pretty sure it will go, f not I will sell it locally. Someone is going to get a sweet rod at a bargain price that can be driven right out of the box. |
