Thankfully, hey couldn't all be Tri-power screamers, ut, o the bane of variety, lot of incorrect Vettes are running around pretending to be something they're not. That's why this national award-winning roadster is so appealing. Originally purchased as a small block curve carver, videnced by its correct L76 327 and fun Muncie 4-speed, t features a correct Ermine White over Red color combination that's both attractive and unique. And it is, fter all, till a Sting Ray, hich means there's a built-in level of style, alue and exclusivity that most cars simply can't match. So, f you're in the market for a cool rendition of a top-notch example of America's favorite sports car, his incredible roadster could be the literal interpretation of your next classic! BODYWORK/TRIM 'All Corvettes are red' is a common generalization. 'Yellow Corvettes are the epitome of American motorsports' is reinforced by Team Corvette's continued racing success. But, t's certainly hard to argue with the marque's original white on red aesthetic. Restored to assembly line specs in 1991, nd completely stripped and freshened in 2013, his clean C2 presents a stunning color combination that, hanks to the exclusive 1953 C1, njoys a natural association with both Chevrolet and success. Step close to the car and it becomes very obvious that its mostly original body has been carefully repaired as needed, s there are no major seams visible from any angle. Further examination reveals doors that fit well, ines that are crisp, nd aggressive 'shark fin' fenders which show no signs of rounding from an overzealous sander. Thanks to clearcoat that's been carefully clouded to duplicate GM's original lacquer, his Chevy looks very close to how it rolled out of the showroom. And presently, mmaculately maintained by the same owner for close to 26 years, he car is a fully sorted judge magnet that's been awarded a DUNTOV Mark of Excellence and multiple Top Flight honors. Thanks to a renewed dedication to motorsports and heavy influence from the original Mako Shark concept car, he second generation Corvette presents a sporty, ard-edged appearance. At the front of the car, ullet-style marker lights, how worthy bumpers and a vivid cross-flag emblem cage a broad, tainless-trimmed grille. Behind that grille, sculpted hood flows to chip-free glass that's traced in straight stainless trim, apped by requisite vinyl and sealed in an Ermine White hardtop. At the sides of that hood, ich fender emblems and a classy bowtie mirror float between simple heat extractors, raditional door handles and finned rocker guards. And at the back of the car, onochromatic tail lamps illuminate a chrome-trimmed fuel filler and correct "Corvette STING RAY" emblem above a chrome-trimmed tag bracket, wo more show worthy bumpers and polished stainless exhaust tips. ENGINE Tilt the hood and you'll find a correct, 27 cubic inch V8 that hangs a familiar 3782870 casting number behind a matching partial VIN. One of the most powerful naturally aspirated small blocks of its day, his impressive powerplant utilized a forged crank, orged rods, orged pistons, hot cam and solid lifters to turn standard 11.0 to 1 compression into 365 factory-rated horsepower. At the top of the professionally rebuilt mill, polished air cleaner funnels wind in to a vintage Holley carburetor that's threaded onto polished stainless fuel lines. Below that juice box, correct Winters intake perfectly complements correct, ot-tanked heads, hich anchor finned valve covers over upsized, .02 valves. At the back of that intake, etrofitted electronic ignition shoots spark through fresh wires, hich lurk beneath polished sleeving and over sprayed exhaust manifolds. And at the front of those manifolds, Harrison-branded radiator circulates water through pliable GM hoses and authentic tower clamps. Whoever performed the restoration on this Corvette did an excellent job of creating an attractive, eliable engine bay that's every bit as detailed as the rest of the car. Naturally, he hot-tanked and .030 overbored block features bright, hevy Orange skin from its clean oil pan all the way to its silver oil filler. And, s expected, orrect textures and decals are present and accounted for. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Flip this small block Vette upside down and you'll find a solid chassis that's in good shape, nd today, ooks much as it did when it rolled off the showroom floor. At the center of the car, VIN-stamped Muncie hangs a correct 3851325 casting number in front of a factory posi-trac and big, .11 gears. At the ends of the car, fully sorted double A-arm front and independent rear suspension is completely detailed down to its tagged shocks, orrect springs and old school manual steering. Above that rebuilt suspension, riginal, ever-hit floor tubs, hich look factory fresh in every way, re bolted to a straight, atin Black frame. At the corners of those floors, orrect drum brakes mix competent handling characteristics with solid stops. At the edges of those brakes, orque flows to the pavement through painted and covered steelies, hich spin 6.70-15 BF Goodrich Silvertown whitewalls. And everything, rom this Corvette's carefully over sprayed bellhousing to its NOS exhaust system, s fully sorted and ready to roll! INTERIOR Open this Chevy's tossable doors and you'll find a correct Red interior that perfectly accents the car's factory Ermine facade. Seating comes courtesy of firm vinyl buckets that are anchored between factory seatbelts, right stainless trim and a small chrome shifter. From the driver's perch, tock gauges, hich include a correct 6,500 RPM tachometer, leed onto their bordering panels in a march toward a center-mount clock, Delco AM/FM radio and an aluminum-trimmed glove box. Below those gauges, hick floor mats and bright sill plates protect like-new carpet. Above those sills, tainless-trimmed door panels hang modernist armrests below traditional handles. In front of the driver, familiar steering wheel spins satin-finish spokes around a classy horn button. And behind the passengers, fully carpeted storage compartment boasts enough room for a weekend's supply of clothes.
