Description of 19710000 Chevrolet Chevelle |
You are bidding on a very nice 1971 Chevrolet Malibu Chevelle. This car retains the correct matching number, nd proper casting numberengine. Factory options include an automatic transmission, ower steering, ower brakes, nd a power top. Unlike many color-change cars, his one is a trim-tag-correct Red/Black car! Larger rally wheels and tires have been added for a more muscle car look. It was produced in Arlington Texas, nd spent most of it's life in the South prior to Ohio. This car was sold by a friend of mines dealership back in 1995. The owner took it home, nd attempted to adjust the valves himself. Unfortunately, e ended up wiping out the camshaft and the car set for the last 20 years. It was only driven a dozen or so miles in this period, nd has been in dry storage every since. The engine was recently removed and complete replaced and the engine compartment thoroughly detailed. Ignore the 350 air cleaner decal, he owner wanted to have this decal instead of the 307 one.The motor is clearly a 307 based off the casting number and stampings on the front of the block. A moderate camshaft was installed during the rebuild, hich gives the motor a healthy idle and doesn't sound like a smaller displacement motor normally would. The car runs and drives EXCELLENT. Great brakes, echanicals, nd the like. The body, rame, nd otherthe areas of concern on mostcollector cars of this era are of noconcern on this vehicle. This is likely due to the car being aTexasvehicle. The body fitment is excellent, ith noevidence of accidents, oor patch work, tc.The rear quarters were apparently replaced many years ago. They appear to beNOS full (not patches)GM black oxide quarter panels by looking up underneath in the trunk. I do not believefull reproductionquarter were produced in the 90's when this car was last on the road, o this is why I believe they areoriginal GMpieces.. The trunk pan is excellent and appears to be the original pan. I do not believe the underside of the deck lid has ever been painted. Check out the original jacking instructiondecal and thecool JCPenney tire decals from 1974 &1976!The doors, eck lid, nd hoodall align, it, hut as expected. The paint is in excess of 20 years old, ut still shines and presents itself verywell. It's not a100 point perfect paint job, ut it's excellent for a driver. There are some very minor paint chips that have been touched up, ut it shows well even with a few minor blemishes. There is a bit of shrinkage around the leaded seam where quarters are attached behind the rear window, ut outside in sunlight this is not evident. The chrome and trim is all in excellent condition. The interior appears to bemostly original. I believe the upholstery, ash, oor panels and possibly even the carpet are all original pieces, nd all in very nice shape given their age. A small set of aftermarket guages have been installed under the dash to monitor the engine. The factory clock was removed and a small tachometer was installed in the dash. The steering wheel has been replaced with a smaller version, ut the factory wheel is included. I am in the process of ordering several small items for the car which will be included. These items include a few new weatherstrips (trunk, uarter window, creens for the cowl, tc, tc). If time permits, hese items will be installed before the car is shipped. Otherwise, hey will just be included with the sale of the vehicle and you can install them. The (power) convertible top works perfectly, nd fits excellent. The top and rear window are in excellent conditon. A new convertible top boot will be included as it's missing. The engine compartment has been correctly detailed and all proper componentry is in place. The engine runs great/smooth, tc. As mentioned above it was recently rebuilt and only has500 or so break in miles on it. The mileage shows 22K, ut true mileage is not known. If you are looking for one heck of a nice Malibu Chevelle Convertible, ere's an excellent opportunity for acollectible car that you can drive and enjoy and not have $40-$50K in it. It's tight, nd runs and drives out exceptionally. I have been a licensed collector car dealer in Ohio for over 20 years, nd I describe my cars fairly and accurately.
