Details:
I bought this truck a couple years ago to go on Ultimate Adventure. It has been in Petersen's multiple times, ncluding gracing the cover of the August 2015 issue. The previous owner did the one-ton swap, he rollcage, he rock sliders, nd the body trimming. It was a good start, ut there were lots of issues to attend to. The rollcage and rock sliders were not tied to the frame, o I fixed that. The driveshafts weren't right, he rear axle spring pads were bent, t was under-geared and wasn't locked, nd the homebrew ram assist was ridiculously slow. All of that was fixed. After it survived the first UA, went back and added some creature comforts, amely the seats, nd fixed up some other stuff. Unfortunately I just don't drive it enough and have too many 4x4s, o this one needs to go as I need the parking space.
Make no mistake, his Blazer has been wheeled hard and has the dents to prove it. But it has also been reasonably maintained and not excessively abused. Hell, he engine doesn't really make enough power to hurt the axles, hich are BULLETPROOF. There are a LOT of dents, etween the previous owner and I, here is not a single straight panel on it. These dents are the result of chasing Jeeps down Jeep trails and hitting rocks, rees, nd generally trying to stuff 10 pounds of truck in a five pound hole. This is all hard-earned patina that cannot be faked or replicated. You will be happy to know, owever, hat the doors still open and shut as well as a typical 73-87 Chevy, hich is to say, hey open and shut OK but require a little force. However the fiberglass top is perfect, s most of the 'wheeling was done with the top off. The stickers are as-seen-on-UA and can be kept or removed...by you. The windshield banner is one I would recommend keeping, s the only way to get one is to actually attend an Ultimate Adventure.
This is not a daily driver and has not been for some time. However, t is perfectly street legal and is currently registered and insured in AZ. I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere, nd considering that it did over 2k on-road miles and got 'wheeled hard for a week this past July says a lot. It steers, tops, nd shifts just fine. It doesn't overheat. It'll do 80 mph without being frightening, nd it will crawl really well. It is currently on a collector car insurance policy in AZ and as such does not need to be smogged. There is no reason I know of that it could not be smogged in any state, s the cat is in place and there are no check engine lights. I have done nothing to defeat any emissions devices, or have I found any evidence of emissions equipment being missing on the vehicle, ut I'm not an expert. Engine runs awesome and TBI is stupid simple and reliable. The tranny was rebuilt professionally while in the care of the previous owner and has maybe 5k miles on it since. It was obviously fresh when I bought it and the tag is still on the tranny somewhere if you really need to know when it was rebuilt. It's solid and has not been a problem. Tranny fluid is pristine. Buyer is wholly responsible for emissions, n-state or out.
A truck this old is going to have issues. Here are what I consider the notable ones:
Passenger wing window is broken (stupid tree).
Rear window glass is not installed in tailgate but I do have it.
Transfer case leaks.
Exhaust rattles.
No radio.
It ain't much to look at, ut it works.
Tires have a lot of tread but one has a pretty ugly chunk out of it, owever it has held air for two years.
Lots of "patina."
It's an AZ truck so the paint is pretty baked....but there also isn't a hint of rust anywhere.
Rear springs are kinda sagged out.
Yes, he truck is rough body-wise, ut it's solid mechanically. It would be a great starter for a buggy, great donor for a nice Blazer or truck on 10-bolts, r say eff-it and take the whole family 'wheeling in it TODAY. You can't build the axles for the reserve. The higher the bid goes above the reserve, he more stuff I throw in...like new rear springs, tc.
$500 deposit due within 48 hours of auction end, alance due before the truck leaves my possession. Would much prefer a local sale but will ship if YOU arrange it. I will consider delivery or partial delivery to SoCal, lbuquerque, nd other cities in a 5-7 hour drive radius from Phoenix for an additional fee.
