History:
The car was originally purchased from a Chevy Dealer in Warrior's Mark Pa by a fellow who drove it a few thousand miles before putting it in dry storage. A 23 year Navy career ensured it pretty much sat in that garage without much use. Upon retirement he took the car out of dry dock and began the process of restoring it to full function. The Chevy dealership in Philipsburg Pa was given that task. It was around this time that the current owner purchased the car with less than 10,000 miles on it.
The current owner has been relying on Stocker Chevrolet in Pa to maintain the car. Stocker employs a man who knows Corvettes and this Corvette quite well. Anyone with genuine interest in the car is encouraged to set up an appointment to have Stocker or any certified mechanic in the area to look the car over. Stocker did a fine job doing what the original owner hoped to do upon retirement. The car runs strong and feels quite tight on the road. Richard has owned this car for a little over 6 years and is responsible for half the miles in total. The paint is completely original. It looks great and of the period. That said, he paint is crazed. I have provided a photo taken to highlight that detail.
Again the good:Very strong running car, olid on the road, o troublesome rattles that I could detect. Good tires with plenty of tread on factory aluminum wheels. The T-tops are in good working order. The powered antenna works well. The car is a very cool ride and quite a bit of fun, ruly a part of its time. Very good working order, s original as possible.
Things to be aware of that are less than perfect:
- At some point during the 23 years of storage, he original owner lost the paper work for the car. Which is to say the original title, nspection and registration records. The DMV issued a replacement title with the stipulation that the mileage could not be verified. The title is clear on this Corvette, ut the milage is not verified. Should you have any concerns, lease feel free to schedule an appointment at the mechanic of your choice in the area and we will deliver it to them. Interested parties pay for the check up.
- The heater blower would not work. The problem was a faulty lead at the fuse box. The box is a molded unit and not easily replaced. The decision was to fix the problem with a jumper lead. It has worked fine for the ensuing 10,000 miles.
-The cylinder for the ignition has been replaced. This means the car has a key for the doors and another key for the ignition.
- The drivers side headlight takes its time raising or lowering, ind of a lazy eye common for Vettes of this era. It is a straightforward repair.
- The electric door lock switches are not working.
-The drivers side door handle needs to be reattached on one end (the fore end). I tried to get a good picture of it put it is not obvious in the photo.
