Description of 1959 Chevrolet Impala Convertible |
Up for auction is the BEST example of a TRUE original. numbers matching. 2 owner 1959 Chevrolet Impala convertible. Originally a demo car for Murphy Mahoney Chevrolet in Denver. Colorado. The car was then purchased by a lady which is fully documented on the sunvisor with all her original registrations. she owned the car up until 2011. She only put 96. 00 miles on the car during her 52 years of ownership. Upon her death. it was purchased by us making it a true 2 owner car! This 1959 beauty per the trim tag is a REAL Tuxedo Black 900A with Gray interior 810 and a Ivory top. It still retains its ORIGINAL numbers matching 348 big block. Turbo Glide automatic transmission and rear differential. Other Factory options include; power brakes. and power steering and power convertible top. She also retains five original and correct dated kelsey hays wheels. When purchased. this car was already a cool survivor that ran and drove well. After enjoying it as a driver. we then decided that it deserved an “over the top” CONCOURSE quality restoration. We also decided we were going 100% CORRECT and no cutting of corners to save a buck or modifications. This car was fully taken apart down to its very last nut and bolt. All of the original nuts and bolts re-done in correct cadmium plating. the frame powder coated. and the engine fully rebuilt to factory specifications with all new pistons and bearings. along with the transmission and every other moving part. Nothing was left untouched. To top off the restoration. we were able to find THE BEST OF THE BEST NOS PARTS to finish this car. An example of some of these parts are; NOS front fenders. NOS front and rear valances. NOS Hubcaps and NOS spinner caps. NOS headlight buckets with original T-3ʼs still attached. NOS rocker moldings. NOS front fender moldings. NOS front grill and still many. many other nice original parts that are not mentioned and added up to a huge dollar amount! Very few reproduction parts were used. Obviously. NOS parts cost much more to obtain. but this is the level this car needed to be done. All of the glass is new LOF soft ray and dated to the car. The chrome was all finished to “SHOW QUALITY” and block sanded straight before dipped in nickel then chrome along with all of the pot metal parts to the car. To give this car true CONCOURSE detail. all of the original factory inspection dabs. code markings and numbers were put back exactly on the components as they were found at disassembly. The undercarriage is a TRUE work of art…. From the factory dates on the frame. to the spiral shocks. to the CORRECT red-oxide with CORRECT factory body color over spray on the floor pans. The frame on this car is beautiful with absolutely NO rust pock marks. The front and rear suspension control arms and differential housing were all rust free and are beautiful. The undercarriage pretty well sums up why this car is a true CONCOURSE restoration. The topside of this car is just as nice. With absolutely NO BONDO and ALL STEEL. ne look at the DEEP black paint. you will feel like you could dive right through the car. The paint is PERFECT in every way and a true SHOW STOPPER! The body was block sanded numerous times to make it laser straight. There are absolutely no waves in the body and its fully color sanded flat and polished right down to the rockers. This paint job is the BEST OF THE BEST. To go along with this high end paint job. all of the stainless trim was professionally polished to a mirror finish and is absolutely flawless. The interior was re upholstered per the trim tag to 810 medium and light grey. The seats were fully rebuilt right down to the seat frames being detailed and powder coated a bare steel color and all of the hardware re plated. We detailed and refinished parts on this car that are never seen. Just one look under the dash or even removing a brake drum proves that. All of the original bolts are fresh cadmium up in there. the inside of the dash is red oxide with the correct overspray. we even powder coated the factory support brackets for the pedals. All of the wiring harness is new to factory specifications. With every last inch fully detailed and to finalize the top end. the original convertible top frame was totally dissembled. detailed in satin black with the correct chrome plated hardware refinished and a new Ivory top professionally installed using all of the correct materials Chevrolet used in 59.
