NO RESERVE! 1959 Corvette Restomod Project Please click HEREto see 150 more pictures of this build The overall goal of this project was to build the car with the classic stockappearancebut with outstanding driving performance and cross country reliability. In other words, this is a drivers car. I chose the Z51 because I wanted nimble steering and flat turns for weekend warrior runs through SCCAslalomcourses. I went with the Ramet 350 crate motor for reliability and serviceability at any GM dealership. Plus, it is a great powerplant with the look of the original Fuelie 59 Corvette. Startingwith a solid, straight, no hit frame with cleartitle, the stock front and rear suspension was removed, surface rust removed, then black phosphate applied to retard rust during the build. The frame was then reinforced to strengthen the C4 suspension mounting and load points by boxing rear areas of the frame using 18ga steel. The front horns of the frame have been boxed to strengthen as well as give a smooth frame appearance. It was imperative that the car steer, drive and handle like a modern corvette. This is why I chose not to use cross members on the market which use Mustang 2 suspension and steering racks.A custom front cross member was fabricated using the stock Z51 geometry, suspension and steering mounting locations. A 1986 Z51 was the donor for the front suspension, heavy duty front and rear sway bar, 2 turn lock to lock Z51 rack & pinion steering, and rear suspension with Dana 36 having a 3.07 ratio (G44) rear end. The stock Z51 Sway bars have been mounted using Prothane bushings & end links. The Z51 rack has been connected using polished stainless u – joints and collapsible steering shaft. All that is needed is an ididit steering column.Chrome QA1 coil over shocks are used at the corners as well as Russel stainless steel brake lines. The front and rear suspension geometry is perfect with the rear anti-squat geometry adjusted for the longer wheelbase and slightly forward center of gravity compared to the stock Z51. The car has a great stance at 1” lower than stock, however, there is room for adjustment up or down with the QA1 coil over shocks. The chrome motor mounts hold the brand new Ramjet 350 crate motor long block. The intake with a custom made fluted top to match the fuel rails has been show polished. The throttle body, injectors, fuel rails, sensors, wiring harness, computer and distributor are included. Polished pulleys are used on the crank and aluminum water pump. The stock Z51 power steering pump is mounted on a custom mount and has a polished pulley installed. Polished stainless steel headers have an internal ceramic coating to keep the heat inside and to prevent them from bluing. The engine has been mated to Jegs SFI flexplate and a 2300-2500 stall torque converter. This is backed up by a New Trans Depot Stage 1, 700r4/4L60 four speed over drive transmission. · Torque converter 2300-2500 Stall · Heavy Duty Raybestos Hi -Energy clutch packs · Remanufactured Pump Assy with all Updates · Stage 1 Street Strip Shift Kit · Heavy Duty " BEAST" Sun Shell · Teflon pump bushing · Heavy Duty Kevlar Band · Complete bushing kit · Corvette Performance Servo · Hardened Pump Rings · 500 boost valve · Up to 550 HP The new console shift plate has a custom lettered shift pattern to match the OD transmission yet keeps the original look. The stock C4 aluminum drive shaft will need to be lengthened by roughly 3”. To prevent rear end twist, a custom dual ladder bar set up is grafted to the C1 frame. To round out the frame, all bumper brackets are included (most are new from Corvette Central) as well as a pair of rechromed front bumpers. The body was a barn find that looks like it had been sitting from the 70’s. The body had front end damage but from the cowl back, it was found to be a very solid, no hit body once the paint was removed. A very good condition original front nose was found and new surround was bonded into place. The front right side fender is original and has repairable damage at the bottom. The left side fender is hand laid. I have new L & R press molded fenders to replace both of them. Other than the fenders, the body is extremely nice. Doors, hood, deck lid, trunk lid, tank cover and trunk panel are all original GM and in great condition. The body and panels have been sanded down to bare fiberglass. No chemical stripper was used. On the underside of the body, the nut plates and seat belt plates have been removed and tar and factory undercoating has been removed by sanding alone. As you can see in the pictures, the bottom is clean and ready for show paint. As you can also see in the photos, there is no paint to hide body flaws. The rear exhaust pass through tubes have been replaced with polished stainless steel tubing. Door hinges have been restored with new pins and bushings. New hinge towers and cowl reinforcements have been installed. Most of the internal door mechanisms are included and in excellent condition. No door glass, tracks or posts. Hard top is in good shape with nice stainless but needs a new rear window and weather striping. Side windows, headliner and latches are good. There are many new parts such as a black dash cover and door panels, heater console and cables/knobs, emblems, aluminum radiator, etc. etc. Restored parts, such as the complete heater assembly, are really nice. Just too much to write about everything here. See below for an itemized cost list. Parts and build pictures can be seen if you follow the link at the top of this description. Over $35,000 alone (based on current value) in new, NOS, restored and excellent original parts are included. This is a great opportunity on a solid project with most of the hard work done. I hate to sell it being so close to finish but business requires cash now. Clear Washington State Title in hand. Car is located in Saint Petersburg, FL. NO RESERVE!
