*. * Up for auction is one wild 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air 2-Door hardtop that I recently purchased from the gentleman who owned and built this car since August, 13 1990. He had spent over $100,000 in time and parts creating this beast; and I have a fat stack of receipts to prove it. He documented just about every aspect of the build and I will do my best to translate the paper trail to you. He documented EVERYTHING with drawings, schematics, plans, etc… truly amazing. This car has a very fresh 496 engine which I have the engine ID tag for, it cost $4546.00 + all the goodies (purchased on 3/8/2004. It decodes as a 500hp 454 series 70-85 with extensive work. It has an electric water pump, electric fuel pump and preform electric cooling fans all operated by switches on the dash. It has MERLIN III 310cc R/Port aluminum heads (020650) and a aluminum MERLIN 4-bbl intake. Complete MSD ignition including pro billet distributor. It has a miloden 7 quart oil pan. From jegs he purchased the best of the best; race clutch set and RAM billet steel flywheel 168 tooth, center force dual friction clutch and pressure plate all installed in a Muncie M-21 4-Speed transmission. Casting # on trans is 3925660 10-spline input shaft. The engine runs excellent, doesn't smoke or burn. VERY strong build. It has patriot headers and a full dual exhaust system with cutouts if desired. Through the mufflers the car sounds great and isn't obnoxiously loud. This is pump gas engine, i mix 93 and 105 octane and it runs just fine. It does not overheat. The body and paint work was completed on 4/4/2004 at 7:51pm. yes his record keeping was that accurate. The front fenders and hood are fiberglass, the rest of the car is steel. I do not have the steel front end. The paint is excellent, looks like a fresh repaint. Very straight body. The chrome and trim looks brand new, and was new when the car was assembled. The front end was completely revamped and modernized using tubular upper and lower control arms and QA1 coil over suspension. It also sports a flaming river rack and pinion power steering cradle and also a flaming river tilt steering column for $1275.00. Purchased by the right stuff, the braking system has also been updated to the right stuff power front disc brakes with a 7” chrome dual diaphragm brake booster and drilled and slotted rotors. It has a Jegs dana 60 post rearend. The car has NOT been tubbed. It has Moser 35spline axles, molar housing ends and sealed bearings. The frame was out from underneath the car and was painted. There is receipt after receipt documenting just about every nut and bolt put into this car. I have about 30 separate receipts from Danchuk Restorations documenting chrome, trim, rubber, moldings, gaskets, seals, carpet, etc… He kept records of who he talked to at at various venders and was they said, the most comprehensive record keeping I have ever seen. The sound system is impressive and sounds great. It has 2 Sony 12” subs and lightening audio speakers. The interior looks like it was just restored. As you can see you can monitor every vital the engine puts out I have found the fuel gauge to be off. The mileage on the build is hard to determine but i would say less than 100. It really runs great, drives well too. Pulls a little to the right when accelerating quickly. I know I have missed a LOT of information so feel free to call and ask any questions.
