Description of 1967 Chevrolet C-10 |
1967 Chevrolet C-10 6.0 V8 LS, 4L80E Auto Trans 1,500 +/- miles since built We built this truck in our shop, over last winter. The ENTIRE truck has been gone through, everything, it is possible that I might forget to list one or two things, but Ill try to be as thorough as possible. We started with the stock truck, purchased locally but with a Mid-Western past, which is why we bought it, solid as a tank, no rot, only a few quarter size rust through spots on rocker panels, and pits in the bed floor. The truck was a factory 283 V8, with a special order 4 speed in the floor. It has dealer air installed under the dash, but the York compressor was missing when we bought the truck. We dis-assembled the doghouse, removed the old engine and transmission, removed all the original drum brakes, and all of the original front and rear suspension. We re-done the frame, chasis coated black, then installed a CPP 3.5 inch front 5 inch rear suspension lowering kit, no c-notch, dropped front spindles. We then installed a CPP front disc brake conversion kit, with drilled and slotted front rotors. We replaced rear wheel cylinders, hardware, and re-surfaced rear drums. Then, all new stainless brake line kit, with new hoses. We installed a fuel tank for a 1967 C-10 suburban between the rear frame rails, and installed the fill neck through the bed floor. We installed braided fuellines with AN fittings from the tank, to the in rail pump, through the wix filter with pressure return bypass, and on the engine compartment. We used the adjustable mounts for the LS block, and retained factory manifolds on the LS. We used a Heidts transmission crossmember for the 4L80E. The shifter is a Lokar floor shifted automatic shifter, with Lokar brushed aluminumsquare indicator boot ring, and with the Lokar decoder box. We have HP Tuners here at our shop, so we deleted the VATS, deleted the rear O2 sensors, and a few other minor un-necessary things. The tune on the engine, right now, is a mild driveability tune.We will tune the engine to the purchasersdesires if this tune is not satisfactory, right now it will melt rear tires as well as get 22+ MPG on highway, so its a every day driver tune, which is what Ive used this truckas for the last 1500 miles while verifying the integrity of the build. The entire wiring harness was tossed, and replaced with a Ron Francis complete wiring harness. The heater ductwork was replaced, along with every switch on the interior. The dash was watersanded and sprayed with a flat clear to preserve the blue patina. The cab was Dynamat layered, then insulated the floor, and new floor rubber, along with tossing the old gas tank from behind the seat, but we preserved the fill spot, and fabricated a bottom intoit, so now when youtake off theoriginal cap,its just a 8 inch long neck with a bottom in it to store extra keysor whatever you like. The seat was re-done byCollins upholstery, our custom upholstery contractor, with an old school diamond stitch pattern on the blue pleather. The tail lamps were replaced with LED lamps in a factory style housing, and the headlights were converted from sealed beam, and use new clear housings. The wheels are wheel vintiques smoothies, with a clearcoated metallic gray finish, as well as the reproduction smooth center caps with the logo. The tires are Coker whitewalls, with a 2 1/4" whitewall. The exhaust is a true 3 inch front to mid pipe x-pipe then through 3" in and out Magnaflow mufflers and dumps in front of the rear axle. We worked on this truck all winter, with an investment of over 20K in truck, parts, materials, and labor, and was built for the purpose of advertising our capabilities at the Somernites Cruise Truck expo last month. We built, we showed, now were on to the next build, just as soon as we find the very lucky, next owner, of this awesome and very very fun C-10 custom. Im sure I forgot something, but feel free to ask any questions that you may have. Send us a message, or give us a call.
