Description of 1994 Chevrolet Caprice Base |
I'll try to keep this short. For sale 1994 Caprice 9C1 plus entire inventory of new and used parts. After 2 years of fighting the notion, I have very reluctantly decided that I will attempt to sell my 1994 Caprice 9C1 that I have owned since 2001. The usual reasons like most red blooded car guys when they come to terms that life changes over time and so the priorities must change with it. I will spare posting all of the photos and all of the information on this car to save on space but if interested please email me. In summary, this is a native rust free Texas car built in Arlington, TX and began life as a Texas Highway Patrol car until the year 2000. It still has the DPS asset number in the door jamb. I don't know who the second owner was but they painted the car pearl white and halfway attempted an Impala SS clone with some terrible after market wheels. I bought the car one year later in 2001 at a car dealership in San Antonio with 105,000 miles on it. It was super clean and had an immaculate interior. One hole only in the roof. Texas DPS as a rule does not install spotlights on their vehicles. Engine is an LT1 with the GU4 3.08 open diff. I found out quickly why the car was traded in so quickly after it left DPS. Within days of buying it, the trans lost 3-4 gear. The dealership paid for the rebuild. After 7 rebuilds by two different shops in 9 months and some fierce letter writing, a brand new GM service replacement transmission assembly 4L60E SRTA was installed in 2002 (117,000) at a cost that was split 50/50 by me and the dealer. This trans has been in the car ever since and has performed flawlessly and still does to this day. Fast forward to 2011 (211,000) the car had served me well as a daily driver for the past 10 years . I always thought I would keep this car indefinitely and started the process of restoring it. I started buying up NOS GM parts by the droves back in 2009 as many were getting discontinued. New steering wheel, new lights, trim, wheels, rubber, all of the police specific 9C1 upgraded parts and too many more to list here. In 2011 I removed the original LT1 engine that was still running like a top by the way but leaking oil out of every possible place but the valve covers. I purchased a "stock replacement" LT1 engine from Golen Engines on the east coast, they are know for their specialty in the LTX and LSX worlds. This engine has the aluminum GM heads and slightly more aggressive cam than the B Body. I installed it and reused no parts from the old engine at all except the intake manifold. New opti, new accessories, new exhaust manifolds, new injectors. You get the point, everything down to the green silicone 9C1 hoses to the oil cooler, oil cooler lines, orings, to the smallest vacuum line was replaced with new GM parts. This engine was tuned on a local dyno with 250 RWHP and 315 FT/LBS to the wheels. Tuner figures 20 percent loss through the drive line for approx. 315 HP 393 FT/LBS crank. It is currently tuned for 91+ octane. Some highlights of the good -6 year old upgraded LT1 engine with 27,000 miles of use with all new OEM parts (Runs great, runs strong, no leaks) -perfectly functioning trans with 120,000 miles serviced by me with Mobil 1 ATF every 30,000 (Shifts perfectly, no leaks) -Rear diff serviced regularly with Mobil 1 75w90 and both axles and seals replaced last year with new rear brakes, rotors and caliper brackets and hardware. (no leaks) -Suspension upgraded with GM parts to the larger 5/8" lower ball joints -Recent front end alignment -Goodyear RSA P235/70VR15 tires with 70 percent tread left-Brand new GM NOS 9C1 wheels installed in 2013 -Power Windows and locks -Cruise/tilt -Driver door panel not cracked-Dash is not cracked-Windows tinted -Brand new cat back exhaust system -Clean interior, arm rests are not broken (they were all replaced in 2004) -New carpet in 2005 -GM AM FM CD player installed in 2010 that was reconditioned and MP3 input jack installed -Has trunk kit made by Scott Williams with 10" provisions for subs -All windows work and are not off track -AC blows very cold -Upgraded Racetronix fuel pump and wiring -Plethora of new and used GM parts including hard to find items like the steering wheel, the 9C1 air dams that direct air to the front rotors -Countless other parts replaced in the restoration process The bad -Paint is terrible (Car was garage kept from 2004-2011 and 2013 to present - Most damage occurred 2011-2012 when the car was outside while I built my shop. Clear is coming off hood, roof and trunk. Paint is cracking on roof near glass and in places on trunk lid. -Trunk leaks water during hard rainstorms if left outside -A/C compressor has small front seal leak, has to be recharged every 2-3 years ever since the engine was replaced. -HVAC system works normal except will not direct air to floor when put on heat setting. (Heat does work and core was replaced when engine was) -Front and rear suspension overhauled 10 years ago around 150,000. Still drives great but would benefit from fresh parts and shocks) -Volt meter reads way high for some reason but alternator is putting out 14.5 volts.-both rear door panels and passenger door panel have one small hair line crack each above arm rest I drove the car this past summer to New Mexico and back. on vacation. I would get in this car and trust it to drive anywhere as it sits right now. I realize the car has a lot of sentimental value to me and no one else but I don't need to get rid of it, I just think I should as I don't drive it as much anymore and now that I have the 2014 Caprice I see myself using it even less. I'm going to start by asking $9000 obo for the car and my entire inventory of B Body parts. If I don't get any bites after a while, I will most likely sell the car separate from the parts. Ill probably get more for the parts selling them individually but that will take time and I think I would benefit from decluttering my life a little. Parts included with the sale include: Used NEW BOX 1 BOX 1 GM Ignition control module Fuel Injector O-Ring Kit GM 19178978 Complete spare B Body LT1 engine (117,000 miles) Under hood junction stud with plastic cover (less front accessories, water pump, opti) (Updated brass style) Column Shift Grommet Bushing (x2) Cooling Fan Relay AC Delco D7065C Both ABS pump module relays LT1 Opti-spark shaft o-rings (GM) 3 spare HVAC knobs Opti-Spark-Waterpump coupling GM 10128334 Fuel bib (purchased new in 2003) (prevents fuel spill from getting on paint) window regulatortrack nylon rollers (2nd design) Spare defrost grille (blue) Wiper arm bolt cover x 2 GM Evap purge solenoid GM 19236596 Trunk bowtie emblem GM 10219665 EGR Valve GM 17113382 (5,000 miles of use) Radiator tank pressure cap (green coolant) GM Cruise control module Rear Disc Caliper pins x 2 GM 18022147 P/S reservoir Rear Disc Caliper bolts x 2 GM 14067559 Spare Ignition coil and module GM (1994-1995) Upper control arm bumper stops x 2 GM Surveillance mode switch GM x 3 Heater hose restrictor AC Delco 15-5423 x 3 Battery Hold Down bolt and bracket LT1 low oil level sensor GM 10137676 Cooling Fan Relay GM 12172736 x 3 Park Neutral safety switch GM 15705308 1994 Caprice Shop Manual Set GM Blower Motor Resistor Ac Delco 15-80850 2 spare 9C1 LT1 PCMs Air intake sensor Silicone Hoses complete set (211,000 miles) F-Body LT1 purge solenoid relocation bracket PF52 AC Delco filter (not e-core style) x 8 Dual cooling fan lower bracket GM Dome light lens MAP sensor Parking brake adjusting hardware Fuel injector clip GM 17112633 x 8 Power Steering fluid dipstick GM 10317982 LT1 upper radiator hose inlet Fuel Rail O-rings 17113086 GM Opti harness Throttle Body Gasket GM 10105379 GM O2 sensors X 2 Fuel Pressure regulator Borg Warner Throttle position sensor GM 17106680 Intake air temp sensor Rear sway bar hardware Driver door window switch cluster x 2 BOX # 3 Passenger door handle (outside) GM NOS Driver side lower b pillar trim blue Negative Battery Cable GM 12164013 Brake booster vacuum hose Exhaust manifold bolts GM fuel injectors x 8 (200,000 miles) BOX # 5 Coolant Temp sensor GM 10283602 GM NOS 9C1 wiper blade (x4) T-stat neck x 2 Throttle body top plate GM Oil pump drive shaft and gear GM Oil pressure sensor GM 9C1 battery junction 10161999 GM LH Headlight rubber trim MAP sensor GM 10161998 GM RH Headlight rubber trim Purge solenoid GM 10109530 GM center air dam PCV 5,000 miles of use AC 10230680 GM rear bumper trim RH chrome BOX # 2 10230681 GM rear bumper trim LH chrome 9C1 LT1 complete engine harness 16615175 GM driver door seal trim chrome GM complete set door door seal trim 91-94 only Pair of side marker lamps BOX # 4 Lower Dash panel (blue) perfect condition BOX # 7 Trans dip stick 4L60E 12553725 GM accelerator pedal assembly
