Description of 1963 Chevrolet Corvair |
This car is the rare and desirable Spyder Turbo Convertible, which gets a lot of attention on the road. I especially enjoy when Ferrari drivers pass by with their thumbs up. A few of my Corvair buddies have commented about the "good bones" this car has--it is not rusted out from underneath like many Corvairs and still wears the original rear grill. It is a beautiful car with a nice, tight top. I cannot claim that it is perfect, but looks good and drives well. When I received this car four years ago, it came with a list of NEW parts: - Gas Tank - Electric Fuel Pump - Brakes - Front Brake Cylinders - Windshield Washer Unit - Carpet with Sound Deadener - Upholstery - Tires - Top - Quick Steering Arms - Short Shift Kit - Custom Steering Wheel - Electronic Ignition - Muffler - Large Capacity Oil Pan - Paint--2-stage with Clear Coat The following items had been rebuilt: Engine, Starter, Transmission, Turbo, and Carburetor. That was about $11k in new parts four years ago. Since then, this has been a daily driver and I have replaced the Battery, Carburetor (replaced with a Wolf), Fuel Pump and Filter, Engine Mounts, Tires, Weather Stripping around the top, Cap/Rotor, Plugs and Wires. I have only replaced the fan belt one time since I've owned this car. Amazing. The car has been very reliable and still runs well; however, it has developed "blowby," which I do not have the time and energy to repair. The car comes with some assorted parts and manuals. |
