Description of 1950 Chevrolet Other Pickups |
50 Chevy 3100 Truck
Under the hood, the updated powerplant features a 350 Small block with Turbo 350 transmission. The history of the motor and trans is unknown, but runs and drives out well. You will see also under the hood a new aluminum radiator with electric fan, power steering, power brakes paired with 4 wheel disc brakes. You will definitely turn heads with the static drop accomplished by a Heidts Mustang II front end kit with coil over shocks. Low rear stance is accomplished with a drop block kit. No S-10 chassis swap here. This one rolls dirty! The body, well we took MANY pictures for you to see the good and bad of this one, but we will try to point everything out here. Real patina, not man made or faux, what we know is that it was basically pulled from seclusion and fitted with the interior, suspension, and powerplant updates. The fenders are solid; the running boards are pretty solid (see pics for crack on passenger side). Passenger cab corner solid, the driver side cab corner rough on bottom (pics of this). There is some rust through where the old bed wood was in contact with the box metal. Door bottoms are solid. There is new weathered wood in bed. The truck has the original grill, new bumpers were put on, the original/previous front bumper goes with the truck. Was told this truck spent its time in North Dakota prior to modernization. On the inside… Some updates but still the old truck feel! Original steering wheel and steering column still in place to keep the stock look. Originally this truck was built as a "3 on the tree" and it has been converted to function with the TH 350, a detail you don't see regularly. Anybody can put a Lokar shifter through the floor. You will see trim metal on the interior has been painted. The seat has been reupholstered with a vintage look. Newer loop carpet was installed. Your front and rear glass is good, the door glasses have cracks with no impact on functionality (looks like they have been that way a long time). Stay warm on the cool cruise nights with a heater and variable speed blower. So thinking about driving it home? Well the headlights, tail lights, and blinkers all work. Truck has been re-wired with a Painless wiring harness kit. The brakes seem sufficient with no notable issues. The engine and trans seem strong, but we aren't certain of its history. There are no windshield wipers. The speedometer works but is off, likely has wrong gear in trans, and is not accurate (Actual Mileage Unknown). A new gas tank was installed during the modernization. The gas gauge functions but seems like tank baffles are missing and needle moves around a bit. The Stewart Warner temp gauge works. When it sits in the garage, there is the typical seepage from the transmission. There is slight drip from the power steering as well. Overall I would drive it, knowing that something could always happen(it is 67 years old). Based upon age alone the truck is being sold as is where is. This is an old naturally aspirated fuel system with no computers, so easy to work on, maybe a little more finnicky than your new Silverado! Whether you plan to drive it, ship it, or whatever we can try to accommodate you as best as possible. Keep in mind, this truck sits probably about 4" off the ground, it is not an easy load for an amateur hauler! Anything not clear or not answered or need more information?
