Admit it, you've always wanted a 1963 Chevrolet Corvette split-window coupe just like this. It's arguably the most desirable Corvette of all and with this beautiful Riverside Red coupe wearing a recent frame-off restoration, it's just about as good as such cars can be. Add in a 4-speed and a healthy V8, and you get a beautiful car that's also a joy to drive. This gorgeous Corvette has been expertly refinished in its original code 923 Riverside Red, which is a fantastic choice that looks spectacular on the split-window's famous fiberglass shape. It was restored to the highest standards, "imperfect perfection" requirements be damned, and they simply forgot to tell the guys doing the work that restored Corvettes aren't supposed to be this unblemished. Ah, what the heck, sometimes you need to wreck the curve for everyone else, and this showstopper will have people talking for all the right reasons. The gel coat was topped and sanded multiple times before a drop of paint went on, the gaps were aligned to an almost superhuman degree, and the paint is two-stage urethane that's been color-sanded and buffed for a shine that they didn't even dare dream of in 1963. If there are any complaints, you need to get on your hands and knees to find them, a few scuffs under the driver's door trim and on the front bumper. You want an impressive split-window? This one will blow your mind! It also sports a matching red vinyl interior, which is just what code 490L specifies and how this coupe came from the factory. Combined with the Riverside Red, it's simply heart-stoppingly beautiful and with the expert restoration, it'll be hard to resist just sitting in there, never mind actually driving the thing. It's bright, that's for sure, but it makes the black dashboard stand out and nobody's going to complain about a bright red Corvette. New carpets, fresh door panels, and one of the best-fitting headliners we've ever seen round out the soft parts inside. Everything works, including the big, brightly marked gauges and the factory AM/FM radio, so you know they were taking it easy with the upgrades on this one. That is a period-correct 327 cubic inch V8 living under the hood with 300hp, carrying casting number 3789817. Rebuilt just 2692 miles ago and detailed to look like it just rolled out of the showroom, it's obvious they had a lot of respect for the performance potential of this engine. Even the little stuff is correct, from the chrome ignition shields to the ram's horn exhaust manifolds. There's an alternator making electricity and a 4-barrel carb under the chrome air cleaner, so no worries about hitting the road. Sliding underneath, you'll also find a nicely finished chassis with excellent floors, restored frame, rebuilt suspension and brakes, and a dual exhaust system that sounds just awesome. The Borg Warner 4-speed manual gearbox shifts beautifully and it still turns the original rear end, the first fully independent rear suspension on a Corvette. 4.11 posi gears give it explosive acceleration and if you're not careful, you'll burn the tread right off those 205/75/15 whitewalls that are skinny enough to look just right. A brilliantly executed car that only enhances all that was already great about the early C2 Corvette. The look and workmanship are so well done that this car will stop traffic everywhere it goes.
