We purchased this Corvette back in August of 2017 and have since done a nice cosmetic detail on the engine compartment and chassis. This Corvette was repainted sometime ago and done right. It is a nice base coat clear coat finish that is much better than the original finishes back in the day. The shine and luster of this Corvette is like no other. The body was and is all original and the fit and finish is excellent. The hood, doors, headlights, and all trim line up nicely. The front and rear bumpers are the original ones with plenty of flex still in them and no signs of cracks or repairs. All of the window glass is original and date coded and no chips or repairs that I can tell. The original glass t-tops are about as good as they come. They have no cracks nor discoloration. They are date coded as well. The chrome and stainless trim around the upper windshield when the t-tops are removed is also original and very nice. The emblems appear to be original and are also in great shape. Overall the car is an original 1980 Corvette with its original engine and drivetrain with a nice newer repaint. It does still retain its original untouched interior also in excellent condition. The seats, carpet, door panels, dash and all gauges are original and have not been restored! The lenses are clean, clear and crisp. All of the gauges still have the coloring and no fading in them. Seats have no tears or any evidence or repairs. The door panels as well. The carpeting is original and does look very good for the age. Only on the drivers side under the floor mat does it have one small tear in the carpet, but nothing that I would replace or address, as it is not that bad. We did replace the floor mats and they do match up nicely. The rear carpeting is excellent and the original jack and lug wrench is still in the compartment where it should be. Also the t-top storage bags are there as well. All of the gauges work including the clock which is unusual on these models. The radio is original and does work along with all of the speakers. The center console, lower and upper, are also nice and crisp with no wear around the edges on the plastic where they tend to get some. The interior on this Corvette is about as good as they come!
ENGINE AND CHASSIS:This Corvette does still retain its original engine and drivetrain. (Numbers Matching). For the most part it is untouched with the exception of some cosmetic details. When we bought this Corvette the exhaust system had been changed and was not original. We decided to purchase the complete system from Corvette Central that is the aluminized one and is 2 1/2 inches. We also purchased the catalytic converter and installed it back onto the car. All of the original smog equipment was still intact and operable. On the engine compartment we did remove the valve covers and replace the gaskets and refinished them. We also freshened up the paint on the engine block and oil pan as it was not that bad, but we wanted it to be "show" condition. We also freshened up the alternator, fan blade, and pulleys. We did not do anything to the power brake booster and the gold cadium finish in very nice. Even all of the hood latches were left alone and have no rust or corrosion on them. Like I said before, for the most part is all original, with the exception of some pieces removed and refinished. All decals and labels are visible as well. It does look better even in person than the photos. I do not believe someone would be disappointed in this one!As far as the chassis when we removed the incorrect exhaust system and installed this new one, we did remove the spare tire compartment and rear leaf spring. Those items were cleaned and restored as shown. We did put new liners and bushings on that rear spring. We also removed the original shocks and refinished them as well. Yes it still has the original shocks! The frame was and is excellent and did not need much attention at all. You can tell this car was not in any harsh climate to rust or get all of that corrosion that you tend to see. The springs, front a-arms, underbody floors, all look nice. You can put this Corvette up in the air and show it off! We also did service the car including the anti-freeze changed, and transmission fluid changed. New gasket installed when doing this. We also changed the oil and used Lucas fluids when doing this. When we purchased this Corvette back in August, we drove it back from where we bought it from and was approx. 225 miles and drove back without any issues. I would not be afraid to drive this Corvette just about anywhere. I am confident in the condition of this Corvette. You do have to realize that it still is a 38 year old car and somethings can happen due to age. We do try and go through our Corvettes that we sale in hopes of no issues or problems and that is why we try and drive each car we sell to get a better feel for what it is and drives like. We also did replace the cruise control transducer as this unit was not working. All of the lighting, gauges, headlights, wipers, heater, defroster, radio, etc. do work on this Corvette. The only thing that I am aware of that will need attention come spring is the a/c. The air conditioning does still work and blow through the vents, but is not ice cold. From what it appears it is all original and R-12 freon. This is still available at some places, or simply convert to the R-134 that most people do today. That is the only thing that I have seen wrong and since it is still winter now, I have not addressed that. The tires on the car are newer BF/GoodRich Radial T/As in excellent condition and do not need replacing. We also did remove the wheels and fully polish them out to a show like finish and did replace the center caps and all lug bolts. This alone was around a $500 cost on my part but they do really finish the car off.

VIN # 1Z876AS431421Fifth Digit In VIN # (6) Designates The L-82 Engine. This was the 31,421st Corvette built out of 40,614.Actual build date was Tuesday June 3rd, 1980.
This Corvette was originally delivered to Kiess Chevrolet on 201 Main Street in Cold Springs, Minnesota 56301
The original owner purchased this Corvette on July 31st, 1980 with the miles showing 61 and lived in St. Cloud Minnesota.
We purchased the Corvette from a man in the Jonesboro, Arkansas area and he had acquired the car from a man in Cleveland Mississippi. The person that we bought the car from did not title the car. We have since titled the car in our business name and the miles are showing actual on the title. I also was able to keep that original document from Mississippi and have all of those papers in a portfolio and do go with the Corvette.
The Documentation that I have includes the original build sheet that I removed from the gas tank, original warranty book with all of the original owners information, original EPA sticker that went on the window of the car, original general motors maintenance brochure, original consumer information brochure, original sales brochure, original owners manual, original knock-outs for the keys to the car, original sunvisor paper tags, original Goodyear tire information brochure, copy of original dealer invoice, window sticker, assembly manual, some prior owner history and title, odometer statement, InstaVin vehicle history report (This is similar to a CarFax but CarFax is only for 17 digit VIN #s and that did not start until 1981), receipts spent on the car in the past few months, and several photos of the undercarriage of this car. Overall well documented and everything you see in that last picture of the paperwork does go with the sale of this Corvette.
KEY HIGHLIGHTS TO THE 1980 MODEL YEAR FOR THE CORVETTE:
The optional L-82 5.7L engine as this Corvette has features a higher lift cam than the standard Corvette V8, has special heads with impact-extruded pistons, a forged steel crankshaft, with each main bearing cap secured by four bolts, aluminum intake manifold, plus finned, aluminum rocker arm covers to help dissipate heat. It does perform well in my opinion and much better than even the previous L-82 years. This was the last year for that option and was an additional $595.00The 4-Speed manual transmission was not available with the optional L-82 engine for the first time. This model featured new front and rear bumper "caps" with integral spoilers. Radiator air flow increased about fifty-percent. Integrated spoilers improved the drag coefficient from .503 to .443 compared to the 1979 model equipped with the optional, non-integrated spoilers. These new new front and rear bumpers had new cornering lights and new rear lights. The cross flag emblems for 1980 were a new, more elongated design. The speedometers for 1980 Corvettes read to a maximum of 85 mph, a new federal requirement. These were phased in during 1979 production. The rear storage compartments were changed from a three-lid design to a two-lid style in the 1980 model. The battery stayed in a separate compartment behind the driver, but the center and passenger-side compartments were combined with one access door. After several years of weight increases, the Corvette was lighter in 1980 as engineers trimmed weight by using lower density roof panels, reducing the thickness of hood and outer doors, and using aluminum for the differential housing and crossmember. For the base L-48 engine, the L-82's aluminum intake manifold became standard. For improved surface quality, urethane was applied during molding to panels forward of the firewall and to roof panels. The Corvette's base price increased four times during 1980, increasing from $13,140.24 to $14,345.24.The RPO C49 rear window defogger included UA1 heavy-duty battery. The base horsepower for the L-48 Engine was 190 H.P. and the L-82 was 230 H.P.Air Conditioning, Power Windows, Tilt/Telescopic Steering Column, were all optional in 1979, but became standard in 1980.The Convenience Group also became standard in 1980 which included time-delay dome and courtesy lights, headlight warning buzzer, underhood light, low fuel warning light, color-keyed floor mats, intermittent windshield wipers, and a passenger-side illuminated visor vanity mirror.
