Description of 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle |
Barn Find ! Rare low production, GM Documented, SD396, 1967 Beaumont Sport Deluxe 396 two door hardtop-this is the one you've been looking for ! 1 of only 451 ever produced for sale in Canada for the Canadian marketplace. You've heard of them (the Canadian GTO or the Pontiac Chevelle). Beaumonts in general are a rare car - the SD396 is the Holy Grail- 1967 is arguably the most desired year- Beaumonts were built by GM of Canada for the Canadian marketplace due to the Autopac trade restrictions of the 1960's and limited importing of GTO's to Canada-Beaumonts were sold at Canadian Pontiac dealerships, The Canadian Pontiac was built on the Chevrolet chassis, all mechanical and sheet metal components are that of a 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396, the grille, taillights and trim emblems are unique to Beaumont, the dash is that of a Pontiac Tempest/GTO - there are a lot of great resources on these cars these days, several Facebook pages on the go and a great internet blog www.canadianponcho.ca -most of the rare emblems and trim are now reproduced by Dales Muscle cars in Bracebridge, Ontario - the interior material is Chevrolet Chevelle Super Sport and reproduced, all the sheet metal and mechanical components are Chevrolet Chevelle Super Sport and readily reproduced This Beaumont requires complete restoration and is not recommended for the faint of heart. The original 396 engine is long gone and presently has a non running small block Chevrolet in its place, the original 396 cubic inch engine would have been a 325 horsepower with only a date code stamped on the machined pad and no vin being a Canadian car so it is possible to make it 'number's matching' again, the original Big Block Sort Deluxe or Chevelle Super Sport style hood has also been replaced with a flat 'small block. version, the correct appearing 3-speed automatic transmission is in place, the correct appearing 12 bolt rear axle housing is in place The original exterior color is code LL for beautiful Tahoe Turquoise with black interior, this vehicle was built April 10, 1967 at the Oshawa, Ontario assembly plant, the original 396/325 horsepower engine would have been shipped in from Tonawanda, New York, U.S.A. The body is that of a great lakes region car that has been previously rusted and repaired with metal and body filler on all panels and has since deteriorated, the floors are rusty with the front floor rotted through, the exterior paint and filler had began to flake off so it was scrapped back and brushed over with primer to attempt to prevent further deterioration. All the exterior trim is in place. the glass is in place and intact with the exception of the driver's vent window glass which is missing The interior is worn, ripped and torn the front seats are incorrect (appear to be high back from a second generation Camaro), I do have the lower of the correct driver's seat and the upper and lower of the correct passenger seat, the dash is all intact including the Beaumont specific AM radio, the Sport Deluxe insignia is in place as is the chrome trim along the outer edge of the headliner like a Super Sport Chevelle, the odometer reads 13,095 Miles which is surely turned over and not documented or verified in any way I have owner history available showing this vehicle as a one owner for 40 years ! I have a clear Ontario ownership/title properly registered in my name - I also have a photo copy of the previous registration/ownership/title I have the original owner's manual and some maintenance receipts from over the years, General Motors of Canada Vintage Vehicle Services documentation will be provided with the purchase and can be verified if you would also like to purchase it to be 100% sure of what you are purchasing This vehicle was last licensed in 1993 and poorly stored since 1 of 451 originally produced and an often estimated survival rate of 10% for vintage muscle cars like this leaves this particular car in the numbers of a little more than a few hand fulls left surviving - this very well could be one of the last affordable restoration project 1967 SD396 Beaumonts available ! This vehicle is very worthy of its required 'frame off' restoration - think of what you might pay for a 1967 Chevelle SS396 in similar condition or a 1967 GTO or even a big block first generation Camaro and remember this car is rarer than a 1969 Trans Am !!!! This vehicle is offered for sale as is where is with no warranty implied or given. This vehicle is offered at NO RESERVE with a modest starting price and a realistic 'buy it now' option if you just have to have it ! I recommend inspection prior to bidding/purchase, the vehicle is available for viewing by you or a third party. This vehicle is located in Welland, Ontario Canada just 15 minutes from Niagara Falls U.S.A and 15 minutes from Buffalo U.S.A not far off the Q.E.W highway about one hour from Toronto, Ontario.I recommend you look into shipping costs, importing requirements and anything else that may concern you prior to bidding.
