Description of 1981 Chevrolet Corvette |
1981 CHEVY Corvette C5 with all aluminum Chevrolet LS1 5. 7L Corvette engine and T56 standard transmission. If you’re looking for a great looking. dependable Corvette you can drive every day and not have to worry about exotic parts. overheating in hot traffic jams or midnight roadside repairs then this is the car for you! This car drives like a dream and will scream when you get on it! It is a smooth daily driver. nbsp;has the right stance. looks Great and is Stupid Fast! This car was built for driving! The car was frame off restored in 2006 and everything was new and updated starting at the frame the suspension. gas tank. disk brakes. carpet. seats. door panels and new custom Painless wiring harness from the front of the car to the back were all upgraded or replace along with much more. The steering has been upgraded to rack and pinion. Ceramic headers with cross over pipe and Flow Master Exhaust. Has a Satellite radio with CD and Blue tooth. Tilt steering wheel. The LS1 Conversion and T-56 transmission was completed in 2013 and the new f-body fuel pump installed in the tank. The motor was rebuilt at this time and a performance cam was installed along with upgraded lifter springs and motor was tuned. The car has 6748 miles on it since frame off restored. The paint on this car was done at the time of the frame off restoration and as such is an older paint job. It is in really nice condition however It has minor imperfections and chips that would be expected of a paint job of this age but is still shinny and looks great while driving and from 10 feet but is in no way show quality. I have two sets of T-tops. one set is painted to match the car and the other set is mirrored and has superficial scratches thru out the mirroring. The OBD-II port is in the battery box as well as the computer. The relay panel for the engine harness is under the plastic tray opposite of the battery. The fuel system is based on a F-body Camaro inside the fuel tank. The filter regulator is by the tank. It’s a C-5 corvette unit so it is easy to get to and replace if needed. The fuel line is all top shelf type braided line and fittings so are very reliable. The Speedo is run by very expensive CableX box. The Temp gauge runs off the normal sensor. The amp gauge works with no modifications. All computer fed sensors work but oil temp as there were no more ports left to use so the oil sensor is on an adapter. This car was originally a factory automatic but converted to manual using only correct Corvette parts and clutch is hydraulic. Throttle is cable driven. The vent stem is a conversion from jag for LS1 and connects to the return hose. HP Tuners for computer. The high and low cooling fan relays are in the engine compartment over below the AC stuff. The fans are F-body Camaro fans. a lot of time was spent making them fit and look like they were supposed to be in there. so it really looks good. I have all the dealer manuals and wire diagrams for the car burned to a disk. I have several manuals and some documentation that came with the wire harnesses. Call or text me at 972-571-1231 and I can send you a link to more pictures. There is no warranty and the car is sold as is where it is. Buyer is responsible for inspecting the car prior to purchasing and for arranging to pick up the car. The car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time without notice. On Feb-11-15 at 08:15:57 PST. seller added the following information: Corrected and updated description from the builder of the car. 1981 Chevrolet C3 Corvette LS1 5. 7L motor and T56 standard transmission. This is an amazing Vetterod with modern Vette brakes and rack & pinon steering/LS1/T-56 Drivetrain. The differential is a hybrid differential built the bullet proof way with a cast iron differential from an early Corvette matched to the aluminum bat wing (see Custom Image Corvettes web site for an example) this is the only way to put high power to the road. It has a 355 rear gear. a perfect match for the T-56 six speed transmission. WIRING The car has a completely new wire harness that the builder installed from nose to tail (dash. forward Lamp. I body) harness from Lectric Limited. The LS1/T56 wire harness was built by PSI conversions (not a cut up factory mess!) The computer is in the battery compartment so you don’t see it under the hood. INTERIOR Builder installed C-5 Corvette seats with grey leather and embroidered emblems. The dash is new. carpet is new. and both door panels are new. Custom floor mats with Corvette embroidered emblems. All locks and windows work. ENGINE I found out that the engine/trans actually came from a very low mileage 2002 WS6 Trans AM. The builder installed a Comp Cams 54-426-? cam and Comp Cams valve springs into the motor so it has a very sweet old school idle. The engine has a LS6 intake and block found in the late LS1 production run. Builder used a Customes Image AC relocation bracket and hydraulic master cylinder for the T56. TRANSMISSION The T56 transmission was treated to a steel 3rd gear shift fork and replaced the plastic shift fork bushings with brass inserts so it is bullet proof as well. EXHAUST SYSTEM The car has a beautiful Melrose ceramic coted C3 Corvette LS1 swap headers and dual exhaust with a cross over pipe and sound sweet. I found out last night that the car was actually Frame off rebuilt in 2010. The builder pulled the body off the frame and the frame was striped and painted and all bushings and bearings and wear items were replaced. The LS1/T56 and Diff were updated in 2013 3000 miles ago. The paint was done some years before the 2010 rebuild and does have the normal wear. chips and minor paint cracks in the fender seams that is normal on a C3 and that you would expect to see on a car that is driven and enjoyed like this one |
