Description of 1966 Chevrolet Impala Caprice |
You are looking at a very rare 1966 Caprice Coupe with a factory installed 427/390 horsepower engine. This car was assembled and sold new in Southern California. It was assembled at the South Gate Plant and stayed around the Los Angeles area until a few months ago. I found this car sitting in a driveway in Orange County just as you see it now. It still retained its original California black plates and all of the factory smog equipment on the original 427. I was told this car was bought new by an older couple to pull a 15 foot camper. The original owners had the car until 1984. Before the original owners quit driving it they seemed to have hit the garage opening on more than one occasion. See the pic of the passenger side quarter panel. After they died the car basically has sat at various locations and has had several owners before I found it. It is a real deal factory 427/390 horse car with a turbo 400 transmission and the original 12 bolt rear end. Although it has spent its life in Southern California it does have some rust. The Hood has some rust in it as does the bottom of the fenders, lower quarters and trunk. The floors are nice but does have some small holes on the passenger side floor due to a leaking heater core. It starts, runs, drives and stops. The exhaust is a little loud. I put new tires and brakes on it. It will run and drive and the engine sounds great but I would not take out across the country in it. It is equipped with factory AC, power windows, power steering and power brakes. A few of the windows work slowly but the rest are pretty well stuck. This is a super rare original numbers matching 427 Caprice. The drivetrain alone is worth a chunk of money. I am offering it at no reserve. Don't miss this opportunity Please text or call with any questions. 816-716-2417 I require full payment within 7 days. I highly encourage any bidder to come inspect the car in person before bidding. Car is sold as is.
