Description of 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS Yenko COPO |
Not for the faint of heart.1969 Chevrolet Chevelle YENKO COPO CloneNicely detailed tribute car that looks and feels like the real deal. The foundation of thisbuildis anoriginal Kansas Assembly Plant late July 1969 L CodeSS396/325hp factory bench seat 4 speed car with a transplanted Dyno Tuned 3963512 cast 4 bolt main 427 engine. The engine build includes Dart Pro 1 CNC open chamber - rectangular port aluminum heads (115cc chamber) w/ 2.19/1.88 valves) port matched to the stock Hi-Perf aluminum intake. I painted the heads chevy orange to give them the appearance of correct iron heads. The Crane cam valve train is all roller and pulls 395 RWHP - 475 RWTQ on the dyno. This translates to 488BHP at the crank !The engine was built by the legendary Lee at LAB Machine, Lindenhurst NY and the dyno tune was done by The Vette Doctors, Amityville NYThe engine is mated to an Auto Gear (AGE) M22 rock crusher 4 speed transmission (David's 4 Speeds,Milwaukee WI) The 12 bolt positraction rear end has 343 gears for both boulevard and highway cruising. This car gets rubber in all four gears !The bench seat and 4 speed goose neck shifter says this car is all business!Power to weight ratio of this car is awesome when you considerthe bench seat, aluminum heads, water pump and intake, manual steering, no a/c makingthis one light A body pavement pounder. For the Yenko conversion, added were the exterior YSC decals/striping kit, 427 and Yenko sheild badges on the fenders and rear panel. The interior has YSC decals on the head rests as well as correct Stewart Warner Green line gauges cluster mounted at the knee on the dash. I have the engine compartment Yenko badge decal for the factory type valve covers and Yenko/SC 427 decal for the radiator panel ( I can install before pick up). Also note there is a Stewart Warner Tach sender mounted on the driver side firewall (nice detail) I also removed all of the ss396 interior badges from the dash glove box and door panels and replaced them with Malibu just like the real deal Yenkos and COPOs had. Also includes:
I have owned and built this car with TLC doing the vast majority of the work myself for over the past 14 years and put a lot of blood sweat, tears and $$$ into it.This car is not only a head turner and car show star, it is an absolute blast to drive.
