Description of 1968 Chevrolet Corvette |
For sale is a 1968 Corvette that was purchased off the second owner who had owned the car since 1972. He purchased the car from the original owner. The car was put away for some time which resulted in just 76k miles. The car presents itself very nicely for never being restored. It is ready to be driven and enjoyed. Car has the numbers matching 300hp 327 with its original automatic transmission. Car retains all of the factory air conditioning equipment. Some neat options of the car include power windows, telescopic steering column, power steering, power brakes and Dark Orange Leather interior. Documentation includes Protect O Plate, owners manual and spare set of original keys. Car has never left the area as it was purchased new from Marve Minneman Chevrolet in Youngstown, Ohio. Exterior: The no hit body was repainted in the early 1970's and the paint is still in nice shape and presents itself very well, but does have its issues. Paint shows some stress cracks in areas, some crazing and the occasional rock chip. The worst area on the car is the hood. As you can tell from the pictures, overall the paint is almost too nice to re-paint, but to make it a show car that would be the next step. All glass in the car is original and is very nice. All chrome and stainless I would assume is original and it presents nicely as well but is not perfect. All fits of the car look excellent and better than most corvettes Ive seen. Head lights go up and down on their own. Due to the soft frames on these cars, both outside frame rails were fixed in the late 70's. Interior: Car retains all of its original Dark Orange Leather interior. Seats show wear and the drivers seat has a seam that doesn't hold when sitting. Carpet is most likely original and could stand to be dyed or replaced. Door panels are in excellent shape, all dash and gauges are in great shape, no hazing or cracking. The teak wood wheel is mated to a telescopic steering column. Power windows go up and down as they should. Car has an alarm system installed, but we are unsure if this was a factory option or an add on by the original owner. Running/Driving: The original engine was never removed from the vehicle. Car starts right up, doesn't smoke or sputter and the car runs strong. The oil was just changed prior to this listing. Car was recently serviced and a full brake job was completed. 2 calipers were replaced so the car stops nicely and straight. Going down the road the car does not wander or pull even with the older tires that are on the car. As you can tell from the pictures the car looks good and it truly fits that survivor or untouched category which is getting harder and harder to find as these cars continue to be restored. This is a car you can get in and enjoy immediately on local cruise nights and not have to worry about. Or it can be the really good starting point of a nut and bolt restoration. This listing is very critical and I have tried to be as honest as possible. Everyone's nice is different - the best way to get a good feel for the car is to come see it in person! The car is for sale locally and the listing will be removed if the car is sold before the reserve is met. This car is priced to sell - if you are interested please call Jack at 330-502-8598. A $500 deposit is due within 24 hours of the auction end. Shipping arrangements should be made by the bidder. On Sep-30-18 at 15:19:39 PDT, seller added the following information: Correction: The car was repainted in the late 70's around the same time of the frame repair. |
