Description of 1955 Chevrolet Other Pickups |
1955 Chevy 3100Short bed / Step side Up for your consideration is my 1955 Chevy 3100. As you can see from the pictures this old girl is oozing with amazing "patina"! No paint shop could replicate this cool rendering by mother nature and time. This truck was on the road just a few years ago. The 327 SBC runs smooth and strong and starts right up with no smoking. The previous owner believes the engine and transmission is out of a late 60's Corvette but I have not verified that. The manual 4 speed transmission shifts through all gears and reverse with no trouble. The clutch works great as well. The 4 bbl carburetor was professionally rebuilt just a few weeks ago. The headers and exhaust is solid and sounds awesome. It needs brakes ... the brakes are very soft and will need to be gone through before the truck is road worthy. I'm spread thin with a house addition/remodel andhaven'thad the time to address the brakes. The bench seat is in perfect shape and was recently professionally recovered (not a cheap slip on). The dash is all there and in great shape as well as the gauges. The heater motor/blower work as well. All glass and rubber gaskets (windshield, rear window, both doors, and both vent windows) are all ingreat shape as seen in the photos. The "patina" on this truck is amazing. That's what drew me to this truck in the first place. I smoothed off any flaking paint with a scotchbrite pad and applied a thin coat of satin clear to seal in the colors and give it a little sheen. I've seen body shops try to replicate natural patina finishes and they never come out looking this good. Tread on all four tires is in good condition but unfortunately there is some sidewall cracking due to age. The wheels are "oldskool" chrome dish steel wheels with some pitting and surface rust. I think they look great on the truck and match the aging patina. There is some rust in the typical areas ... cab corners, front outter floor board corners, and some in the sidewalls of the bed. The rust areas are repairable and affordable patch pieces are readily available through LMC Truck and other restoration parts companies. The wood bed beneath the sheetmetal is in good shape and appears to be all there looking from underneath. The frame rails are solid and show only expected surface rust. If you're looking for an iconic '55 Chevy 3100 short bed that has a great patina, cool SBC V8 engine paired to a 4 speed and oozing with character and a nice hot rod stance, then you've found it. This one won't break the bank and has lots of room for the new owner to improve on what's there or just enjoy it the way it is. Housekeeping:Please ask all questions, have funds in place, and permission (if needed) BEFORE bidding. It takes a lot of time and money to list on ebay and I don't want to waste my, or anyone elses, time. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer, but I'm willing to help on my end to make sure all goes well with your transport at pick up time. Truck is being sold as is with no warranty expressed or implied. I'm not a dealer. I've described the vehicle as straight forwardly as I can. To serious bidders, if you want to see anything that isn't pictured I'm happy to take additional photos of what you'd like to see and email them to yo, just ask. I'm willing to discuss the truck on the phone with serious buyers, simply email me your phone number and I will call you. I'll consider ending the aution early if you would like to make an offer that's good for both of us. Good Luck !! |
