When you get your hands on a Camper Special, you know you have one stout truck. It's heavy duty from end to end and set up from the factory with some serious pulling power. People who own them can recognize them immediately on the road, so be ready for some friendly waves as you drive it. This truck is ready to roll and looks great in its two-tone paint. The White gives it a crisp, clean look... and Red is the color of passion and desire, so you could say this truck is encouraging you to follow your passions. Up front the classic good looks of this Chevy are complimented by an eggcrate grill flanked by single headlights and underlined by a nice chrome bumper with tow hooks just in case assistance is needed or being offered. The red center section is outlined in trim which is two-tone itself with a black stripe through the center, and chrome trims out the wheel wells too. Out back the tailgate is dressed out in a brushed aluminum center panel with Chevrolet in script. It is underlined by a sharp looking chrome diamond plate bumper with a trailer receiver and a couple chrome exhaust tips peeking out from underneath it. Open the door and you will find a Red interior that is all original and is showing its age a bit. The wear and fading is in the expected areas with the sun taking its toll on the molded door panel and some wear on the driver's seat from use. Climb on up and settle into that full width bench seat which you will find quite comfortable with a two spoke steering wheel mounted on a tilt column along with a Sunpro Super tach II. The dashboard is stock and logically laid out with the engine gauges off to the left and the speedo directly in front of the driver. Off to the right are the controls for the ventilation system which include those for A/C to keep you cool on those hot summer days. A shifter for the manual transmission as well as the selector for the 4WD transfer case are mounted in the floor and there is a sliding window in the back glass. Open the hood and you will find a healthy 350 cubic inch crate motor nestled down in the engine bay. There is a chrome Edelbrock air filter assembly feeding an aluminum intake manifold and chrome valve covers add their splash of flash too. Long tube headers wind their way out the bottom sending the exhaust back through dual Flowmaster mufflers on the way to those chrome tips giving this truck a nice healthy sound. Power flows back through the 4-speed manual trans and the 4WD transfer case to solid axles at both ends. The Trailer Special package means that there are heavy duty, variable rate leaf springs both front and rear and heavy-duty shocks too. Dual fuel tanks provide extended range so you may end up making more bathroom stops than fuel stops on a long trip. The rubber meets the road through white lettered 265/75R16 Wild Country Radial TXRs mounted on 5-spoke aluminum alloys. Even if you don't use it to pull a camper or other heavy duty pulling, it's nice to know that you have a seriously capable truck, and you could if you wanted to. This is a good-looking truck that is ready to roll. Where would you take it first?
