Description of 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 --

You can make a compelling case that its model is more universally associated with the classic car realm than any other - and this 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Sport Coupe is one impressive specimen. It's had the good fortune of receiving attentive, long term care within the confines of only a few garages over its lifetime and this faithfully reinvigorated classic wears its original colors both inside and out and is propelled by what's very likely the same engine it... began life with. Contrasting two tone paint jobs have always been a signature look for Bel Airs and the Matador Red and white color scheme draped over the entirely stock exterior represents the look in fine fashion - the paint presents nicely in its present state and just a couple of minor touchups will take things to an even higher level. Chevys of this era were defined in part by their elaborate collection of chrome, including rugged front bumpers, signature egg crate front grilles and long stretches of trim running the lengths of their sides, and the examples on display here are all blemish free, needing only a polishing session to regain top form. The glass on all sides of the cabin is clean and clear and surrounded by fresh felt, and on all sides the badging is in great form, further upping this Chevy's curb appeal. The exterior alignment is also on point, with precise body lines and clean, consistent gaps everywhere you look. In back, the spare tire rides encased in a color-matched enclosure over the bumper - a classic styling cue of the time. Everything is looking downright impressive inside the doors. The two rows of bench seating have been refurbished while retaining their original style and wear nicely fitted red vinyl covers with black accents that mix vinyl and fabric to good effect, matching the door panels to each side of them. Both the black carpet below and the snug headliner above are in top form, as are the chrome fittings throughout the cabin. The dash area is another strong feature, with crystal clear, new-looking gauges inside its fan-shaped instrument cluster and the matching decorative passenger side panel is also looking its best. You'll find what's almost certainly the original AM radio on board at the center. Raise the deck lid in back and you're greeted by a well-maintained trunk area, with fresh rubber lining the floor - from this vantage point you can see the cleanly painted inner wheelhouses as well. Beneath the hood, the theme is highly functional and relentlessly authentic. At the very least, the 283 cubic inch V8 sitting in the impeccably preserved engine bay is period correct - it's more likely the original powerplant, and the consistent maintenance and care it's received over the years have paid dividends - it really runs strong. Fed by a 4-barrel carb, the engine still wears factory style manifolds and, with an aftermarket exhaust added in back, sounds great as it pairs with an also period-correct 2 speed Powerglide transmission to form a reassuringly able vintage drivetrain. This heralded Chevy also received some focused attention over the years to maximize its road-readiness, including the installation of a new spider gear and a resetting of its ring and pinion gears, a new fuel pump, complete brake maintenance and the addition of a new set of sharp looking white walls worn by its 14" factory style wheels with spinner style centers. This 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Sport Coupe offers the chance to own one of the most pivotal classic car models ever to emerge from an American assembly line. Call today!
