Description of 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu

Chevelle enthusiasts are typically divided into a few camps: some prefer the mid 60's square body design, while many others maintain the 70-72 years are the golden era. However, there is another group out there, who really prefer the 69 with its unique one-year-only looks. Relatively rare in comparison, it can be tough to find a well-sorted specimen, but this one is ready-to-roll. With a believed-original engine and a survivor presentation, this is the one to one if you love the original Bowtie design.

Lime Green Metallic looks better on the 1969 Chevelle than almost anything else. It lifts the design beyond mere transportation and gives it an upscale look that complements the handsome trim and tidy proportions. Miraculously, it remains a standard Malibu Chevelle, not an SS clone, but that does nothing to dilute the handsome good looks of any 1969 Chevelle hardtop. Panel alignment and door gaps are quite good, and the light pinstripe that runs the length of the car gives it a sleek look that proves you don't need SS stripes to have a great-looking A-body. The paint is likely original, or at least a very old repaint, so it has a few signs of age, but you'll still be proud to show up in this hardtop at the local cruise night and the color hides imperfections quite well. The bumpers are so shiny they look to have been re-chromed, the stainless trim polished, and even the original grille remains in outstanding condition thanks to a lifetime of easy living. This car simply looks great.

Not being an SS doesn't mean the interior isn't a performance-oriented place to do business in comfort and style. With benches and a column shifter, it has a very laid-back demeanor that's perfectly appropriate for the Chevelle, and all of it remains in good condition. The original steering wheel warms up the matching two-tone upholstery, while the column shifter for the automatic is easy to grab and is a trademark of late-60s GM A-bodies. The dashboard is all-stock with a factory gauge setup, giving you a full view of the engine's goings-on, and a newer retro-style digital AM/FM/AUX stereo head unit is fitted in the original radio's location with speakers throughout the interior. The carpets are plush, the headliner is taut, and the door panels are wonderful bookends in this original stocker. In the back the rear seat looks rarely used, while the spacious trunk is as clean as can be, with a correct plaid mat and full-size bias-ply spare tire that could easily be this car's original unit. How cool is that?!

The rumbling 307 cubic inch V8 is believed to be the original motor, but as a small block Chevy, you know it runs right and sounds great. It's all set up like it would be in '69, down to the carburetor and painted intake manifold, along with a set of original exhaust manifolds that feed into a fresh dual exhaust system, so you know it's a great runner. Chevy Orange valve covers match the block, and the blacked-out snorkeled air cleaner adds a bit of flash for when you want to open the hood at the next cruise night, while a big radiator keeps it nice and cool up front. A TH400 3-speed automatic transmission was swapped in favor of the original Powerglide and it makes every drive a pleasure, and with new components like a fresh shocks and newer gas tank underneath, you can cruise without a care. Power steering promotes effortless two-finger cruising, while power brakes help stop the Chevelle on a dime. Classic Rally wheels and grippy 215/70/15 BFGoodrich white-letter radials give it just the right look to finish of this survivor-grade beauty.

A nice vintage hardtop with a lot going for it, you can enjoy this dialed-in V8 Chevelle for just pennies on the dollar compared to a big block SS. Call today!
