Description of 1982 Chevrolet El Camino

It's official, 1980s El Caminos are worthy of collector status. This redesigned, late 5th generation 1982 Chevrolet El Camino was deemed worthy enough to preserve for 38 years and it certainly attracts a lot of attention on the street. Use it as-is for easy cruising, give it some upgrades for the modern world, or put it to work; at this price, what do you have to lose?
Thanks to the handsome Silver Metallic paint, this El Camino looks like a far more expensive car than it is. Still wearing its original, survivor-grade paint that's been extremely well-maintained throughout the years, it's a shade that works particularly well on the Elky's bodywork, enhancing the length of the body and highlighting the car's unique features. It has clearly been treated as a valued member of the family by the 2 owners it's accrued since new - with no signs of being a work truck - and seeing anything built in the '80s to fit together this well is a surprise. And unlike many of its siblings, this one doesn't have any questionable modifications or upgrades, and it's nice to see all the factory trim still in place, even though there's not a ton of it. The crosshatch grille flanked by quad rectangular lights was all new for year, while the stainless that highlights the fender wells and the band of bright trim surrounding the bed remains in great condition, adding a little contrasting bling to the overall presentation. And out back, the painted bed floor gives this Elky a bit of an upscale look, showing further proof that hard labor was never on the menu.
The all-original blue interior is a real treat, starting with the luxurious-looking split-bench cloth seat and 2-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel. The black-faced gauges inside the factory instrument panel should look familiar to anyone who drove a rear-wheel-drive GM product in the '80s, and the elegant woodgrain applique found throughout the cabin gives the car-truck a very upscale look. Surprisingly plush matching carpets and smooth door panels add to the well-kept feeling inside, and you'll note that this El Camino is heavily optioned with power locks, factory A/C (though it does need servicing), and a tilt steering column. The original AM/FM/Cassette radio is surprisingly still in place, and it fits neatly into the dash and still works, so be a traditionalist and don't change it please! You'll be pleasantly surprised by how much room there is inside and how bright and airy it feels, despite the close-coupled two-seat body and big bed out back. This is a super-clean Elky that you could easily drive cross-country without feeling like it beat you up.
In addition to its thoroughly original appearance both inside and out, this classic Chevy offers a reassuringly solid driving condition. Its engine compartment shows the same attentive care lavished on the rest of the car, harboring a gas-saving 3.8 liter fuel injected V6 that fires up promptly and runs smoothly as it pairs with an automatic transmission in top form. Careful maintenance throughout the years has left the car in top mechanical shape, and the assortment of fresh-looking belts and hoses surrounding the engine show that regular service has been consistent over the years. Smooth power steering makes this versatile ride easy to maneuver, while power brakes that feature discs up front bring its set of 14" mag wheels wrapped with 225/70/14 white-letter tires to a stop quickly when called upon.
The day of the El Camino is here yet again, so whether you want to use this one for fun or work, it remains a great choice. Call today!
