Description of 1958 Chevrolet Corvette CUSTOM RESTORED |
FOR SALE IS A 1958 C1 CORVETTE COMPLETELY RESTORED. THIS IS A TWO OWNER CAR AND THIS CAR HAS A GREAT HISTORY, MY DAD PURCHASED THIS CORVETTE IN 1959 FROM A VERY WELL KNOW FELLOW AIRFORCE PILOT AT EDWARDS AFB AFTER THIS PILOT HAD A SLIGHT FENDER BENDER. MY DAD ALWAYS SAID THAT HE WAS GOING TO FIX THE CORVETTE BUT FOR CLOSE TO 40 YEARS THIS CAR SAT IN MY DADS BACK YARD UNTOUCHED. (MY DAD EVEN USED THE HARDTOP AS A DOG HOUSE) I REMEMBER AS A KID PEOPLE COMING TO SEE THE CORVETTE BECAUSE OF WHO IT BELONGED TO AND WOULD TAKE SOUVENIRS AND MOMENTOS FROM THE VETTE, SO BY THE TIME OF DAD'S PASSING THERE WAS A LOT OF PARTS THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AFTER REMOVING THE CORVETTE FROM IT'S RESTING PLACE, THE CORVETTE WENT THROUGH A COMPLEATE FRAME OFF RESTORATION. ALL THE PARTS THAT COULD BE SAVED WERE AND THE REST WERE PUT INTO STORAGE. THE FRAME WAS COMPLEATLY SAND BLASED, REPAIRED AND PAINTED. THE DRUM BREAKS WERE REPLACED WITH WILWOOD DISK BRAKES (BECAUSE A CAR THAT WON'T GO IS NOT A PROBLEM BUT A CAR THAT WON'T STOP IS). THE BRAKE BOOSTER WAS REPLACED WITH A CHROME BOOSTER SPECIALLY DESIGNED FOR THE C1 CORVETTE FROM MASTER BOWER BRAKES. THE 283 ENGINE WAS REPLACED BY A ROBUST 350, THE THREE SPEED TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED WITH A TRMIC TKO 5 SPEED FOR BETTER HIGH SPEED PERFORMANCE AND COMFORT. ANYONE THAT HAS DRIVEN A CAR IN THIS ERA KNOWNS IT'S LIKE DRIVING A TANK SO THE STEERING WAS REPLACED WITH A UNISTEER PERFORMANCE RACK AND PINION, SO NOW YOU CAN DRIVE WITHOUT WORKING UP A SWEAT. THE CORVETTE IS SO EASY TO STEER NOW THAT THE 17" STEERING WHEEL WAS REPLACED BY A 15" WHEEL GIVING YOU A TAD BIT MORE LEG ROOM. I DID NOT ADD THE POWER STEERING DUE TO HOW SQUIRRLEY THE STEERING CAN BE AT HIGH SPEEDS. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS CORVETTE, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CALL OR SEND ME AN IM.
