Description of 1981 Chevrolet El Camino |
I’d like to get rid of my current project car. Present for your consideration is an all original 1981 Chevrolet El Camino Conquista. The truck has a clean GA title. I purchased this vehicle back in November of 2014. I drove the car home. but it ran and drove very poorly. In an attempt to get the truck running correctly. I began replacing parts. As of today. I have installed a slew of brand new parts. which include – a brand new Rochester Dualjet 210 carburetor. a new distributor cap and rotor. a new ignition coil. new spark plug wires. new spark plugs. a new alternator. a new battery. a new starter. a new master cylinder. and new front brake rotors and brake pads. The brakes still need to be bled and the car still runs a little rough. The truck smokes when first started. but the smoke diminishes after a while. I have not yet tinkered with the timing. nor have I done a compression test. I suspect that the truck has improper timing and/or a valve problem. The passenger side backing plate may need to be replaced. because the new rotor is rubbing (bending the plate could solve the problem). I have removed some of the emissions equipment from the engine – the air pump. the air management valve. and the EGR solenoid. The emissions equipment on a car this old only impedes the engine's performance. In addition. I have changed the oil and replaced the transmission pan gasket and filter. The truck has 3/4 of a tank of premium gas! When I purchased the truck the steering column was busted. I had the VIN number ran and everything checked out. Again. I also have the clean title to the truck. The previous owner hacked off the muffler. so the truck will need a new one. The exterior of the truck has a few dents and dings. There are a few quarter-sized surface rust spots on the bed of the truck along the trim. which is extremely common. The interior is functional. but worn. The dash is cracked. as well as the driver’s side of the full bench seat. The carpet is a little dirty. The floor pans have some rust-through. Rusty floor pans are quite typical in El Caminos and A/G-body cars with T-Tops. The truck has a nice set of chrome Corvette-style rally wheels wrapped with Uniroyal Tiger Paw GTS white letter tires. size 235/70/15. The tires have decent tread. This El Camino has been a Georgia car from day one! It was assembled at GM's old Doraville. GA plant (identified by the "D" in the VIN number) and it was sold in Conyers at a Chevrolet dealership. I am the third owner. The second owner used the truck for work. which is evident by the little dents and dings around the truck. Overall. this 34-year-old classic pickup is in good condition. It would make a great shop car. work truck. or daily driver as-is. This is a notable American classic that will turn heads in any condition. I'm asking $2. 00 for the truck with the chrome rally wheels or $2. 00 without the wheels. These prices are non-negotiable. I'm losing a lot of money! I have precisely $3. 98. 87 invested into this truck! I can be contacted directly via phone or text message at (404) 453-3593. This vehicle is being sold as-is with no warranty. I am willing to ship this vehicle long distance at the buyer's expense. Click Here for NADAguides Price Report |
