Restoration Receipts SELLER REMARKS This rare Z27 code 1971 Chevrolet Camaro SS is doing what General Motors could not. This coupe gets to run with the biggest of the big blocks. This car is really about a celebration of the muscle car's last stand. By 1971 compression ratios were already lowered for unleaded fuel and the next year horsepower would get rated in a more realistic SAE net rating. This Camaro is saluting the end of this era by being a true SS car that goes beyond its build sheet. but more on that in a moment. A car that is going to represent the best of the big power days needs a meaner color than brown. and so the original Sandalwood paint was resprayed a muscle car favorite. Hugger Orange. Of course the only thing that can make an SS better is the addition of the double tri-bar stripe that runs from the SS badge at the snout. all the way over the integrated rear spoiler. Just to confirm that this is about to pounce at anything on the streets. this Camaro has been given a little bit of extra stance from a set of black BOSS Motorsport wheels 18 inches in the front and 20 in the rear. The interior features the original high-backed bucket seats. which debuted for the 1971 model year. These are a welcomed addition for anyone spending real time behind the wheel of this coupe. Because the color was changed from brown to black. the carpets. door panels. vinyl seats. dash. etc. . have all been updated and refreshed. Looking to know the full extent of the work on both inside and outside of this coupe. the full details are in the included restoration receipts. And. as you take a closer look at the interior. you start to get some more hints about the restoration's focus on performance. This coupe now has a full set of auxiliary gauges. making sure you know everything that's gong on with the car. and a nice TCI ratchet shifter. You might have noticed the SS 396 badges on the car. This Camaro is a true factory code Z27 Super Sport. built for the 396 big block V8. but that wasn't good enough for this nod to all things fast. Instead. this F-Body has stuffed under its hood the one motor that Chevy reserved for the bigger cars. The 454 cubic inch V8 motor is the largest displacement of the big blocks that cars received in this era of American muscle. so it has found a perfect home inside this Camaro. This is bolted to the stout GM Turbo-Hydramatic 400 three-speed transmission that is used in other 454 applications. and thus. the ratchet shifter is a fine addition to this performance car. There's also is a tamer side to this beast if that is possible. It's a power steering car with power brakes (discs up front). The tires are low profile Goodyears in the front. and Pirelli P Zeros in the rear. The combination of these two are not only good for going fast. but the wide rubber will provide good grip in everyday situations. So it's time to be nostalgic with one of the craziest. and best eras in American motoring. by buying a well-sorted version of a small-bodied classic. oh yeah. with one huge motor.
