Description of 1969 Chevrolet C/K Pickup 2500 6.2 Diesel Banks Turbo |
1969 Chevrolet K20 4x4 Pickup Truck. Four Wheel Drive. Very heavy duty running gear. This is a Johnny Cash Truck. built one piece at a time. youtube. com/watch?v=rWHniL8MyMMFrom memory (tell me your name again. sweetheart . . . ) the cab is a 1969 and the VIN matches the title. the chassis may be a little newer. Registered as a 1969. I don't remember where the bed came from but it is obviously a 1967 to 1972 year range with a metal long bed. The engine is mid eighties with a Banks Turbo System added sometime shortly after it was installed in this truck. The transmission is also mid 1980's lock up style. The differentials came with the frame and are probably early 70's also. Please read the entire description and check out all the pictures before emailing questions. Clear title in hand. Stored in the hay barn out of the sun and rain. regularly used on our property only. not licensed. Engine: GM 6. 2 Diesel was installed as a new take-out in the early to mid 80's. might have 10. 00 miles on it. Added a Gale Banks Turbo setup some time later. probably early late 90's. Starts easy and runs very good except the glow plug system does not work properly. This engine came out of a new truck that the owner wanted a custom big block instead of the diesel. Needless to say it was a dog but the Banks Kit made it come alive. I also install a hydro-boost power brake unit in place of the old vacuum booster. It has a 3 inch custom exhaust system. It is used regularly here around the ranch. The pasture sprayer is not included in the listing and will be removed if sold. Diesel engine conversion uses mostly factory parts. Transmission: Turbo 350 (TH350c with lock up converter) three speed automatic with shift kit and many heavy duty parts. Shifts very firm. has a manual switch to control the torque converter lock up with and internal fail safe switch in case you forget to turn it off. Transfer case: NP205 gear drive transfer case with manual locking hubs. Front Differential: Dana 44 with heavy duty open carrier. 4:10 ratio. Front disc brakes. Welded on truss bar. Front heavy duty sway bar. Rear Differential: GM Corporate unit with a Detroit Locker. 4:10 ratio. Rear drum brakes. (photos) Body is rough. there is some rust (day light) on both floorboards but otherwise not too bad (photos). The switches to control transmission lock up and engine fast idle are on the dash to the left of the steering column. The red button switch is for the glow plugs but for years I have just using a sniff of ether. Gauges on top of the dash are part of the Banks kit and are not working (boost gauge and pyrometer). The tabs on the front bumper are for a tow bar (available for $100). I used this as hunting truck years ago. using it as a ranch truck now. The tires hold air and work fine here at the ranch should not considered road worthy. sidewall cracks (photo). Lots of little dings. dents and scratches are not real obvious in the pictures. Dual batteries like most diesels. The Chrysler air conditioning pump is used as an air compressor (works fine. pumps up tires fast. will run air tools if used with a tank). Rubber floor mat is splitting in a few places. Seat was reupholstered 15 years ago or so and is in great shape. Steering wheel is from a later model GMC truck. Steering gear box was replaced 2 years ago due to leaks. The paint on the cab and the bed are both white but do not match. The truck will be advertised on Ebay and elsewhere until sold so save the listing info if you are interested. Please ask any questions through the Ebay system. I will publish questions of general interest or if I left something import out of the listing. Pictures were taken end of April 2015. are the actual truck and take precedence over the description. |
