Description of 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210

With the exception of the radio and a small detail on the hubcaps. and the custom front seats this car looks very much original. It is a real head turner and much loved by all. I just completed the Iron Mike Rally. with the honor of driving a Special Forces Soldier from Pinehurst NC to Fort Bragg.   I bought the car in Montana and the body had been off the frame and the frame restored. All of the side trim is the original stainless but the light bezels are aftermarket reproductions. Body: The body was completely media blasted to bare metal sealed. body worked and prepped and painted with PPG base coat clear coat Insulation: the inside of the cabin was covered with hush mat sound deadening and heat resistant material the underside of the cab was covered with a heat resistant material. The underside of the hood was treated with bed liner and a heat resistant pad also. Supports: the inner fender wells and the radiator support were powder coated for corrosion protection Wiring: the car was completely rewired using a painless 12 circuit harness. A 120 amp alternator was used to power the car and a optima battery. Engine: new GM crate motor 350 CID/330HP with HEI ignition system. edelbrock performer intake and 600 CFM edelbrock carburetor Transmission: TCI-GM 700R4 automatic overdrive Exhaust: custom bent dual exhaust system with 3 chamber mufflers Wipers: the factory cable wiper system was replaced with a direct drive wiper system. Brakes: front system is a dual piston disc brake with cross drilled and slotted rotors and the rear is a SSBC 4 piston disc brake with cross drilled and slotted rotors using a two stage power brake booster and dual reservoir master cylinder with an adjustable rear proportioning valve. Rear end: stock GM housing (powder coated) rebuilt with 3. 31 gears Suspension: Hotchkiss anti roll bars front and rear and Bilstein shocks front and rear. new rear leaf springs and the front tie rods and links were all afco. All bushings were replaced with neoprene Fuel system: a new stock replacement tank was used and powder coated. 3/8 aluminum fuel line and a new mechanical pump Wheels: GM corvette rally wheels with beauty rings and shallow center caps Tires: BF Goodrich T/A radial 235-70-15 RWL    Power steering:  Afco power steering system with a close ratio box Engine mount system:  Afco Engine relocation system with neoprene engine and transmission mounts A/C System: Classic auto air system using R134A Freon Cooling: Be Cool Radiator all aluminum with an thermostatic electric fan  Instruments: Classic auto Gauge system- with Tach. speedo. oil pressure water temperature. volts. fuel level and gear indicator.     Also a matching clock Sound system: is a pioneer cd player with 200 watts and 4 speakers Weather-stripping: is all from Steele rubber products including glass seals Glass: all glass in the car was replaced with clear safety glass Interior: the interior is full custom leather in blue and white done by JNG creations in Pittsboro. Trim: all exterior trim was replaced with new except for a few minor parts that were not reproduced for the wagon. Chrome: all exterior chrome is new from bumper to bumper all headlight bezels and tail light bezels and all ornaments were all replaced.
