This auction is for a 1962 Chevrolet Monza Corvair Convertible with 102 hp air cooled flat six cylinder engine and 4-speed manual transmission. The original engine was rebuilt in 1982 and has been driven less than 5, 00 miles since the mechanical work was completed. The engine runs great but does have a small oil drip when it is parked in the garage awhile. Shocks are good and the car drives, handles and tracks straight. The drum brakes have all been recently serviced with new pads and kits plus a new master cylinder. Tires are new and it has the original wire wheel covers installed. It has a new gas tank, fuel pump, nbsp;plugs, plug wires, points and condenser. The interior has new carpeting and both the front and rear seats are in excellent condition. The front door panels need to be replaced but the dash and rear panels are in really good condition. The convertible top is in nice shape as well as the rear window. All the glass is in good condition except both wing windows have a small crack in the small rounded forward corners. The padding under the convertible top needs to be replaced with new padded foam strips. Gauges and windshield wipers are working and a new oil sender unit was recently installed. The trunk area is clean and solid as well as the interior floor pans. Ermine White was the original exterior color with an Aqua interior and Black top. Professional body work with new paint completed in 1986. Some rust is now showing over the drivers side headlight area due to the use of bondo and there are two small dents on the lower part of the passenger side door and one small ding on the engine cover. The chrome bumpers are in good shape but the grill under the rear bumper needs to be added. This vehicle is being sold by the original owner along with the 7/12/62 purchase agreement, owners and shop manuals, wire wheel instruction sheet and broadcast copy. Accessories originally ordered were: push button radio, wire wheel trim covers, front seat belts, tinted windshield, padded dash, 4-speed manual transmission and the comfort and convenience group. It is a fun car to drive around town or out on the road. Little if any mechanical work is needed. However, as noted, some interior and exterior body work could be done. It is still a very worthwhile driver quality collector car. The Corvair Convertible was first introduced by General Motors in 1962 and available through Chevrolet dealerships.
