Description of 1966 Chevrolet Impala |
I hate to sell this car but I have too many projects and this one must go. I am into the original cars and that is why I bought it. I was going to keep the car the way it is if I was going to keep it since it has the original patina. This car hasa lot of original paperwork from the dealership and lots of receipts that date back to the 1980's. Included is the original dealership invoice from 1966 from Dan Hecht Chevrolet in Illinois. The original owner lived in El Paso so he must have bought the car when he was on a trip. The protecto plate states he lived in El Paso. He then moved to Arkansasbetween 1968-1971which is where he sold the car. The car has aclear Arkansas title. Included is an envelope from Dan Hecht Chevrolet post marked August 20 1966. I think either the keys or the invoice was in this envelope. Also included is the original owner's manual protecto plate original keyChevrolet accessories booklet and a Delco Energizer battery receipt from 1969. I believe the original owner sold the car in 1998 as this is when the current title was issued and the new name appeared. I have original registration receipts from 1968 1971-1982 1984 1986-1988 1991 1993and 1994. This car has original paint and has not been repainted. The paint is thin in some spots but all original. The only part of the car that has been repainted is the trunk floor. Factory padded dash power steering factory tinted glassand power brakes I am going to be completely honest about the rust so that there are no surprises. The only rust on this car is the lower part of the front windshield on the driver side only (about 2 inches)(the middle and passenger side are perfect with the original blue paint). The other area that has rust more than likely is under the trim along the front windshield as it leaks when it rains (the floors are perfect). I had this car on a lift and looked it over good. There is no rust anywhere in the floors. Not even a pin hole. The bottoms of the front fenders are perfect with no pin holes. The bottoms of the rear quarters behind the tires are perfect with no pin holes. There is also no rust along the quarter lips or the dog legs. Rockers have zero rust. Rear window has zero rust. No rust in trunk lid. No rust in rear trunk channel. No rust in inner fenders or radiator support. No rust holes in the hood (this is the first 66 that I have seen with a perfect hood) No rust in the door jambs. This car has not been repainted and you will not find any bondo. This car is also very straight and only has minor dings. The interior is original but not perfect. Front seat has tears. Rear seat is good. Door panels do not have tears. Headliner is not torn or falling down but it is stained. Carpet is worn. All of the windows roll up and down with no broken regulators or rollers. Still has the original trunk mat which is still soft ( I removed the mat for the pictures). No rust in trunk floor. Car has the original 327/275 HP with the HCH suffix. It originally had a Holley but someone added the edelbrock. HEI distributor (receipt from 2001) Dual exhaust. I do not know if it originally had duals but it is possible having the Holley. The exhaust is quiet with no leaks. Motor does not smoke or knock. I have receipts stating the motor was rebuilt a while back. It seems fresh with lots of power. Does not miss a beat. Still has all 4 original T-3 headlights which work. Original owner must not have driven at night. I have only driven this car down the street so I do not know much more. All I know is that the speedometer works great (does not shake). brakes work transmission shifts no whines in the rearend (the pinion seal does not leak). Please ask questions and if you need more picturesI can get them. If you are looking for an original 66 this is the one. |
