Description of 1964 Chrysler Imperial Crown |
BUY IT NOW, OR WILL CONSIDER REASONABLE OFFERS For your consideration is this exceptionally clean 1964 Imperial Crown 4 door hardtop, offered on behalf of the second, long term owner. It is ready for a new owner to drive home, in cold air conditioned comfort, from the dry central valley of California. Reasonable offers will be considered to be the next caretaker of this fine automobile. International buyers are welcome, and I can help coordinate worldwide shipping for the next owner. **************************************************************************** This Imperial was purchased in November of 1963 in Sacramento California. The original owners took meticulous care of the car, and kept it garaged in their Sacramento home until selling it to the current owner (a close family friend) in November of 1991 with a mere 53,000 miles traveled. The current owner, an avid Imperial enthusiast, has continued the trend of continued enjoyment & meticulous garaged care during the past 27 years of ownership. Used primarily for pleasure driving & club touring events throughout the state of California, the mileage has spooled up to 84,000 miles. Wearing a single repaint (dating back to 1966) in the original (and RARE) “Silver Turquoise” metallic, this Imperial is a standout in the crowd. Exceptional original Turquoise interior greets you when the cavernous interior is opened up. Given the age & use, minor cosmetic imperfections are to be expected, but it is extremely well preserved and shows beautifully. Chrome, stainless trim, and factory tinted Solex glass are all in exceptional original condition. The new owner can expect a clear California title, with continual registration dating back to 1963 with the original issued black California license plates. This Imperial has only known two garages since it left the dealership in 1963. You will not be disappointed to make your garage the third. Please see specifics below, review photos, video, and email me with any questions Mechanical: · Original 413” V8 (84k actual miles) o Starts easily with recently rebuilt carburetor & full tune-up o Converted to Pertronix electronic ignition. o Whisper-quiet exhaust (exhaust manifold gaskets replaced) o Operates as it should with smooth, unquestionable power o Faithful preventative & general maintenance performed by local automotive shops as needed during ownership (massive file of receipts) o Absolutely no knocks, noises, or abnormal behavior from engine · Original 3-speed automatic transmission (727 Torque-Flite) o Operates properly in all ranges with smooth, but definitive shifts. · General o U-joints, driveline center support bearing all replaced. o Brakes are in excellent working order o (5) Whitewall radial tires in excellent condition (P235/75-15) o Radiator, hoses, cooling system, etc. in good working order Exterior / Interior: · “Silver Turquoise” metallic paint o Pleasant & rare color among similar vintage Imperials o Repainted once in 1966 after the car was scratched down one side in a shopping center. Original owners insisted on full repaint to ensure that the car didn’t appear “touched up” o Small flaws as should be expected, nothing so serious as to detract from overall presentation of a well preserved automobile. o Bumpers, stainless, brightwork, etc. are in beautiful condition · Original “Turquoise” interior o Rare interior trim color, complements exterior beautifully o Small tears on driver’s seat cushion, (see pictures) but balance of interior shows just very light wear. NOS cloth is available at SMS in Oregon (sample, and supplier information will be given to buyer) o Original owner had cloth inserts reupholstered by dealer because the buttons were not to his liking. o Carpets have been replaced, but match original palette beautifully o All original controls are present & functional, except as noted: § Power windows & vents (passenger side vent inoperable) § AM radio, original front/rear speakers work great, power antenna works smoothly § Courtesy lights § Power front seat switch makes contacts, but seat doesn’t move § Speedometer & all gauges are functional, as is dashboard illumination § Functional factory air conditioning converted to R134, recently serviced and working to specification (COLD). Functional factory heat/defrost.
